Here's a very simple question that should have a very simple answer. Is James a great leader? The results speak for themselves. No.

Just assume it is unless otherwise noted. Back to topic at hand.

The overall goal that the administration has for mens basketball is that it continue to exist. Whitford is doing just fine there, so all your complaining and sarcasm are irrelevant. The "great leader" nonsense just shows you are stuck in the nineties.

I just know I do not agree with his style of leadership or basketball ideology. From the outside it also appears he tends to do the minimum amount of work to get by. I actually think he isn’t lazy but devotes his time and effort into studying analytics as opposed to actually developing his players. I do believe he has a very high basketball IQ but he doesn’t have the skill set to relay that to the players. This goes hand-in-hand with his leadership style and the perceived expectations he has for his players. He wants them to be self-motivated to work hard and won’t be the bad guy if they are not. He’ll just accept it. If the player wants to red-shirt or transfer he may disagree but if the player feels it is in his best interest he'll just acccept it and move on. While his salary isn’t outstanding in comparison to other who do the same job, we still pay the guy a boatload of money and I expect quite a bit more.

Leadership? Get used to players calling the shots. The transfer portal gives them an awful lot of leverage. Recruiting players has increasingly been about serving their ideas about their future. Coaches have much less command and control.
Player development involving hard work and change just means they look for someplace else that fits "their game" or is a path to a better showcase if it does occur.

If he cared about performance numbers his recruiting wouldn't be such a misfit mess. I think he is lazy as hell and wants people to believe he is analytical and intelligent.

Really does that describe Scott Drew or Mark Few ? Both of them are disciplinarians and run their programs completely top-down. You are clueless once again.

Good God, getting rid of him during the summer would be the most incompetent move ever. Following BSU's Administration is like watching the Keystone Cops. I mean, having a "conversation" about an extension can also mean this: Whitford: "Can I have an extension?" Goetz: "No." Whitford: "Please?" Goetz: "I said no." That definitely qualifies as a "conversation" about an extension. And throwing in that last little nugget that she anticipates him to be coaching this year sounds like, "Look, we can't afford to buy him out, so buckle up and get ready for a program rebuild after we cut him loose once the season is mercifully over." That said, I'm fully prepared to hear that he's been offered a lifetime contract making him the highest paid coach in the MAC, because who are we kidding here? That's how I interpret it. Essentially a lame duck for 2021-22 due to no one being willing to put up $ for a 1 year buyout.

Oh yeah, typical D1 coaches...at typical programs..typical players. The generalization I made is quite sound.

So you are telling us Coleman left because he believes Cuonzo Martin is more malleable to his needs than Jimmy Shitbird ? You are out of your mind.

Maybe you're right and the level of competition was no factor. And Coleman was looking for more discipline only...I don't think so

So, to be clear, you're on the record saying leadership doesn't matter? And, how about an answer to my simple question. Is he a good leader? Yes or no...I don't need a 700 word equivocation.
