Yea the article made it seem like we have made through tge worst part.. Yes budget will likely be smaller but we seem to be ok all things considered. The wording when the whit extension was weird. The use of anticipates is odd.

If budget she is proposing is smaller that's not really good news except it could be a lot worse. Especially if it has to cover deferred expenses.
Probably means salary cuts not completely restored and a good deal of austerity remaining. But with luck no sports cut out.
The proposal could be cut from what she submits when other units present their plans and University budget is reviewed on up the line.
I remain curious how MAC puts together it's plans. That is potentially a big variable for longer term and we know some changes are coming even this year.

The wording when the whit extension was weird. The use of anticipates is odd. Well, you know, all the suitors he's beating off. You never know when one will make him an offer he can't refuse. In my dreams the "conversations about a contract extension" go like this: Whitford: I'd really like a contract extension Goetz: No Whitford: But I'd really, really like a contract extension Goetz: No Whitford: But I'd really, really, really like a contract extension Goetz: No

Funny, I had a very similar dream about the conversation:
Jimmy "Two Win" Whitford: Hey Beth, can we talk about an extension?
Goetz: Are you f------ kidding me?
Of course, reality often falls far, far short of my dreams.

They must view themselves officially as a football school now, If they are talking of extending Whitford, they obviously don’t care about basketball.

Could be that Goetz is waiting for a good Jo Moore moment to announce an extension.
"Jo Moore, within an hour of the September 11 attacks, Moore sent an email to the press office of her department suggesting: "It's now a very good day to get out anything we want to bury. Councillors' expenses?" Although prior to the catastrophic collapse of the towers, the phrase "a good day to bury bad news" (not actually used by Moore) has since been used to refer to other instances of attempting to hide one item of news behind a more publicised issue."

They must view themselves officially as a football school now With the inherent expense of staying the course in the MAC, It may well be effectively true we are a football school. We have been pursuing the fiction that we can do it all, and since even the minimum expense of a FB program consumes so much of the budget, if we are cutting back overall, we are now cutting back more on all sports except FB.

I love football but 00hmh is right on this football has and will not be impacted as much as some other sports will be. This is not just at BSU though it's at every school Football is king. It's not fair and at our level it's not really even feasible but its going to continue until the bitter end. We are lucky so far that we have not had to cut any sports yet? The question is how long will it be before mens Volleyball,Tennis golf even Baseball fall on the sword for football

Sadly, cuts to feed football will be made and it’ll be men’s sports because of title Ix.

Sadly, cuts to feed football will be made and it’ll be men’s sports because of title Ix. History says that is true, but the MAC may be ready to bite the bullet on this, all the schools are in the same boat with finances, and Presidents are under more pressure from legislatures and the general public than the old guard alumni who have seen FB as the MAC trademark.
BSU having had success last year is in a really awkward spot. But, the other sports have taken so much in the way of cuts, it may be time to see conference cuts in FB.

Both title x and the amount of sports needed to remain D1 needs to be changed. Men's sports football basketball baseball. Women's Basketball, Softball and probably soccer. Don't like it pick another school

That's a lot of scholarship deficit. And there is no good argument men's sports pay for that difference.
Title IX is about opportunity for students, not what fans want to watch. That's not a trivial issue.

Yea it is but thats life.. Like I said the student is in control though he or she if good enough would have to find a school that had the sport they wanted
