Sounds like a very good add! This kid had tons of stories about his playing. average 25+ in high school. Considered one of the top three players in KY and played on the KY all star team that beat Indiana. Feeling real good about this one.

" Offensively, Mickey's versatility is his greatest strength. He's an excellent 3-poijnt shooter, can put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. He has a chance to be an outstanding player during his time in Muncie." This guy shot .154 from three and hit less than 40% of his free throws while scoring 23 points for the season. Jesus Christ Whitford, how stupid do you think we are ? www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/mickey-pearsonjr-1.html

This kid spent five years in High School and two years at TCU, he is 21 years old and should be entering his senior season. If he hasn't shown anything by now he isn't going to.

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. His h.s. Stats are very good. With playing time, I expect you’ll see a different player. Give the guy a break.

Yeah, and I could date a supermodel if they'd stop saying no.
That, and the restraining orders.

That's true if we were expecting a star. Still. It's hard to interpret stats where he's playing a few minutes a game. Especially shooting. That he isn't in the rotation means he's not a world beater, or doesn't fit what they wanted, but could be any number of reasons for that which wouldn't apply here. TCU has brought in 3 transfers on the front line, so another reason why he'd transfer out. At worst he adds size where we're thin at forward.

Yeah I agree, but why tell us "he is an excellent three point shooter" when he can't even hit free throws. Why not just say "he is a great kid who fits our system" or something equally innocuous ? Why throw a great big line of bullshit at everyone ?

Why throw a great big line of bullshit at everyone ? The point is that his recent 3pfg% is not very meaningful. In several games in his log of games where he played more than a few minutes he hit higher percentage. Just not enough shots in the stats to have a very reliable metric. The coaches have seen him shoot in HS and in film and know more what shots he can and cannot take in college and have more faith in him. I doubt he is recruited to have a green light to shoot 3's.
He would not have shot well previously if he had an awkward disjointed shot like KJ.

Yeah, you guys. Whitford would never allow a big to wander the perimeter shooting a God-awful percentage on threes.

Excuse ME. Just something caught in my throat there.

Then why bring-up his three point shooting ?

Doesn't that give us 14 scholarship players. I thought the limit was 13.
