Here's the real problem with Pearson. As a freshman, he was on the same team with Desmond Bane. As we all know Desmond Bane elevates the play of everyone around him. And yet Mr. Pearson, even with the Bane Factor in effect, was no more than a redshirt. I am not sure how the raw power of Bane might cut. Practicing against Bane, trying to guard him, unable to match the incomparable, destroyed his confidence perhaps?

Now that is hilarious. God Damn those unreliable official game stats and all that horrible mathematics. The stats just don't mean much. (Good percentage might not be reliable either. Probably not conclusive for sure.)
You are confusing accuracy of a number with significance. What's hilarious and ridiculous is making a big deal of these statistics. It's not just the problem of small sample size (22 total shots in 19 games). In this case it is more he is mostly playing in garbage time, and you are drawing a conclusion without regard to how he was used and what the coaches wanted or what his system required him to do.
Our coaches have seen him play in HS, and seen film of his longer stint of play in a few games.
You have criticized nearly every recruit and every transfer we have signed, your track record is not that good. There is some reliable statistical evidence...oddly enough more than a few have had good careers and contributed.
Agree 100%!

I’ll be called nuts, but I for one feel there is some good talent coming on board. Three good freshman and three good transfers. It may take a while to get team effort flowing, but I feel there is a good possibility that it has the makings of a good team. Also, I feel the staff has been strengthen with the new additions.

Doesn't that give us 14 scholarship players. I thought the limit was 13. The Reggie Jones scholarship doesn't count towards the 13 limit. He's playing on an extra year that is granted due to Covid-19. The 13 limit goes back into force for 2022-23. If Hazen, Walton, and Ish had all stayed, they could have actually carried 17 players on the active roster for 2021-22. Thanks for the clarification.

We lose Ish, Coleman, KJ and Hazen. That is a load. Still, that team rarely was together in practice or at peak function in games so rarely really played up to the talent level. Predictions of total collapse are premature. Too many questions to be really optimistic, but depth, defense, rebounding, turnovers may all be improved. Offense firepower dealt a body blow, though. A couple of the newcomers should step in and start, make up some of the loss. Returning players have a chance to step up, need to do so. Jones, Thomas, especially have to live up to their scoring potential. Have to get Bumb better looks outside.

Until Whitford proves he can take us further it's hard to get too excited about much related to the program. I like the addition of Darner. I like the transfers we brought in. I like Jaylin Sellers. (the other two freshman will need time and could probably benefit from a redshirt year) But the guys returning all have serious flaws that give pause. Thomas is talented and can dominate on occasion, but, he's not been stable. Bumbalough? Plays hard, but, too often overmatched and has trouble scoring. Etc etc. Next season really needs to be Whit's prove it or move on season. Anything less is unacceptable.

I just still hate to think how bad our pre-season schedule is going to be so Whit can win games and build the record.

My mental picture of Mickey Pearson was something like Like sellers or Mallers etc.. I was wrong lol Wish we had evidence of that level of shooting. He is more athletic and much better going to the basket it appears. Likely a better defender and seems more skilled with the ball We may have a couple of similar players in Pearson and Thomas. Both should be better shooters than Teague, but neither is as big.

I totally 100% agree with Cardfan's post....I do believe we may be bringing in our best crop of Freshman and transfers in Whit's tenure but unless it translates into a Championship or at least a deep run I'm ready to move on...

I don't know if it is the best group, but transfers look solid and freshmen could all be good players. This is also the most talent we have lost, though, and even if the recruits and transfers are good, in the best case it will take some time to tell where we are.
