The fact that there is no extension yet seems to be a driver, I'm thinking. Grab what you can. Darner probably feels pretty secure in case of a let go next year. He certainly would be a candidate for replacement.
Well, exciting times!

Is there something weird going on behind the scenes we don't know about. This whole assistant coach situation has been bizarre. Both Darner and Wright had a logical choice not to work at all. Taking the job meant they had to want to work and wanted to return home. Neither needed this job as a career move. A success is great for them, but not much downside. That all makes it unusual. Both cases may have seen the job as a lucky break. Wright taking a HS job in his home town isn't all that odd to meet those goals.

Hate to say it, but I don’t see this as a big loss. Maybe there is another Darner out there.

Maybe Wright and grunk just want to be highschool coaches and if so that's cool.

At the least they need a break, still love coaching.

Someday after the dust settles Im going to sit with Grunk on the beach and ask. If Ball State would have been more successful and contracts had been in place would he have left. Then I'm going to ask why BSU could never get over the hump

Interesting situation in Richmond: " He (Billy Wright) returns home alongside his younger brother and new RCS Superintendent Curtis Wright, who will also begin his new job in July." Also, an earlier headline: Richmond boys basketball coach Shabaz Khaliq leaving; cites racist remarks as a reasonpictured below is Shabaz Khaliq....really.

Not if you live in the Middle East... instead of the Midwest. Turkish? Sure, Shabaz is probably Iranian/Persian, could be anywhere Turkey to Pakistan. I could see him getting racist flak in Richmond as Muslim. Can't see Mooresville as more enlightened...

Why's that ? Do you view every town in Indiana as un-enlightened, because Richmond and Mooresville have very little in common ? Possibly you are just being a pretentious and sanctimonious dick.
