I see where Teague scored 24 points and had 8 rebounds in the city county all star game , and was voted MVP ....

Hopefully he can come in as a freshman and contribute right away!

With the lack of success with the present lineup, how could he NOT contribute?

With the lack of success with the present lineup, how could he NOT contribute? I don't know. He will contribute, but it's hard to say how much. There is no such thing as the "present lineup" considering the players who will be on the court at the start of next year compared to the end of the recent one. The lineup last year featured a good player at SF. If Teague really is a SF as listed we have two other very good players in Sellers and Weber listed at that position. If he is a PF then we have House and Moses. So, that's a ton of talent to share the front court minutes. Teague is probably too good not to contribute at all, and I hope he is just a basketball player and we can avoid a logjam and see all those guys play significant minutes, maybe sometimes in some non standard lineups. We might have 5 players on the floor who are middle sized players and defy the conventional position definitions. If the big transfer can play make that 1 big kid and 4 middle sized somewhat interchangeable players.

If this present coaching team can't recruit freshman that can contribute immediately then we need to find better recruiters. I am not saying they have win the conference but let's get a few kids that can hit an eighteen footer (once in a while) , block out, rebound, and play a little defense. I am tired of all the excuses. We have an arena that sits 11,000. We have a great school that sits in the middle of the basketball mecca of the USA. Recruit one or two kids a year that can make grades and play. In three years what does that give you? I will answer that for you...A CONTENDER. If a team would post a win or two over a meaningful opponent, Worthen would be rockin'. All the students have to do to attend is WALK ACROSS THE STREET!!!! Call me General Junior...if the coaches can't recruit a two good student athletes a year then scrap the basketball program and take up INTER COLLEGIATE BOWLING.

The coaches seem to be doing exactly what you want. Our two best shooters are now sophomores, and we have recruited kids who can play. I disagree about the first sentence in a way. I want to be in a place where good recruits have to play VERY well to play, because the kids coming back are good players. We are getting there...

It's a process. I think getting past the reputation that was built over the last two regimes has been a real problem for recruiting. I don't think coaches trusted us. I think with the approach of this new staff we are making solid progress with high school coaches and better players. We still have a ways to go. We need some wins to set up the future.
But, things are looking up.

Agree with most of the above comments but also we need time and the admin needs to give Whitford and company at least a couple more years.
I like what Coach is doing and definitely see progress so I am "all in" relative to support for his efforts.

I am not calling for the jobs of the present staff. I am trying to put some urgency on the ''process''.

I am not calling for the jobs of the present staff. I am trying to put some urgency on the ''process''. We all want more success. We probably "want" it now. But looking at process, I don't see what the staff can do much different than what they are doing. What change in process would you make based on what they are actually doing now? How would they act with more urgency? The only way to do much more much quicker is to take more risks and gamble a bit more. And of course win on every roll of the dice. They have taken a few chances already. That is par for the course, recruiting is usually not a sure thing, almost always a gamble in some way. The more risk path which might get us a few more potentially great players at this level is to take chances on character or academics and get players who might have been recruited at high major programs but for those negatives. I'm not so sure I'd want to take on all that much more risk. I like the looks of the current roster and just think we have to let the coach work with these kids and not light a fire under him to take risks. He is competitive and wants to win... There is a tradeoff between building a program and instant results, but I am interested not only in getting better on the court but graduating some high character players, and when we are successful having a good group from top to bottom. If that happens the coach probably moves on to a better job, but we have a good group of players, good fan support, and get another good young coach to carry on.

I am not exactly asking for immediate results, but, 7-23 and SEVENTEEN straight loses to end the second season? Looks like the highlight of season two was the win over IU......KOKOMO. I am pulling for this regime to be successful but it is hard to be enthusiastic with the results so far. That being said, GO CARDS.

Not enough horses last year, particularly with the loss of a key player in Tyler. Add the mental loss of our point guard and some injuries, just no chance.
The stable appears to be pretty full for next season.

I think the key year for the direction of this program is 2016-17,especially if Moses is redshirted this year since we won't know what we have with him and Persons. Barring transfers we would have 4 Indiana All-Stars on the roster who would be at a minimum 2 years out of h.s, (Sellers, Tyler, Teague, Persons), a Kentucky All-Star, and a pretty good compliment in House. Not a bad nucleus at all if Whitford can fill out a reasonably decent bench. We should have plenty of talent and by year 4 that gives us perspective on where the program is headed, if we are .500 or worse with that roster it is fair to question if Whitford is a better recruiter than coach because I think we will have enough talent to break .500 and get even a little bit better in 2017-18 and truly raise the bar that year for MAC tournament contention.

Certainly makes sense on the surface of things. Now just keep up the hard work and keep the guys focused and on the "straight and narrow"!
