I saw a BSU player box out on a rebound today. Whitford's teams don't do that. I saw some other examples of good fundamentals. I'm kind of shocked and confused, but happy. And yet we were outrebounded by 8 by a much smaller team.

That whole "should" thing is interesting. They were a pick'em choice before the game.
ISU at 72 Sagarin, BSU at 68. Neutral court.
We beat them and I am not sure whether they are really bad and we are just not as bad as we were expected to be. Or, are we good?
Or was it just a good game against a team that had a bad game because neither team is established and consistent enough to tell what they are?
Am I looking at the wrong sagarin ratings? I See BSU at 233 and Isu at 161 Look at power rating not rank for predicted score differential. ISU was a 1 point favorite rated 4 points higher with 3 point home court adjustment. See MAC ratings here. sagarin.usatoday.com/2022-2/college-basketball-conference-ratings-2021-22/We were 7th in MAC, ISU would be 6th. Slightly different power ratings we could expect after this game and others today. Question is how much can we improve. A long way from top 2, both in top 100 teams. Not so impossibly far from top 4. It's just not clear what our team can do. We can't know we're a finished product now.

The last couple games our offense does appear to be running better. Having a true post presence is huge

The last couple games our offense does appear to be running better. Having a true post presence is huge Seeing how we respond to pressure d down the road will tell us a lot. We looked a bit frantic and sloppy in Florida and threw it all over the gym. Absolutely vital that Cochran plays poised and under control like it appears he did today. Bumbalough missing so many FTs is mind boggling. Be very interesting to see what we look like if/when Luke Brown plays.

FTs were painful.

We will always look competitive if we hit over 50% on 3s like the last 2 games. But we won't hit that well on 3s even half the games. Are you saying we easily win at Western Illinois next game?

WIU is vastly improved. Beat Miami by double digits today.

WIU is improved but the key was they hit 53% of their 3s & Miami hit 30% while WIU also out rebounded them 44 to 31.The key will be at C Luka Barisic a transfer is 6'10" 240.He was too big for Miami. He likes to shoot 3s & is averaging 15 ppg. So the big question is how Payton Sparks plays against him.

We shot over 50% from the field and 3 point Land which is likely part of the reason we were out rebounded

High shooting percentages by a team lead to relatively fewer offensive rebounding opportunities for that team compared to their defensive rebounding opportunities. Defensive rebounding percentage is typically higher than offensive rebounding percentage by roughly a 2 to 1 margin. Therefore, it is commonly known that shooting a higher percentage helps your rebounding margin.
Didn't you claim to have coached basketball?
