Did speak with one "not maybe a huge, but consistent" CVC donor, yesterday, and he said he was preparing his letter supporting the ridding of the problem and mailing it to Goetz. Said he had thought about doing before, but then thought he might give it a bit more time, but after the Xavier fiasco, and with my prodding him to do so, he's on board to state his opinion.

I watched the first half in stunned silence and then turned it off. I can't believe what I saw was after having a week to prepare. We looked like we found out Xavier was the opponent when the bus pulled up to the arena. That looked like the football beatings from Neu's early days. I can't get the image of Whit looking on with his arms folded and his hands up in his arm pits having no idea what to do. And Darner sitting behind him what a look of what the hell have I done coming here.

Meanwhile Jimmy Shitbird just stood there the rest of the game with a constipated look on his face.

It’s kind of exciting that people actually seem to care though. Anger is better than apathy here.

Can't help but notice Xavier is now 8th in the Big East and listed as a probable 10-11 seed. If they don't win both their games this week they may not even make the Tournament. I wonder in 00 still wants to argue whether or not they are a fringe NCAA team.

Not sure what you are saying here. I don't remember really saying anything in this thread, and have always thought Xavier was one of those mid major schools in athletic resources that had the advantage of making basketball a priority and done well with that decision. Like Loyola, St Louis and others...They gave that up in the early 70's while we made a decision to go with the MAC and make FB a bigger sport. Quite manageable at the time. But...
BTW, whatever you want to say about Butler and it's good management decisions in BB, it boiled down to making it a priority, and each time they had to spend money to keep the momentum, they did.
Hard to find a successful mid major that manages to really prosper and even get to marginal without doing that. Way back in the day Louisville made basketball a priority and did well, and in the 90's we had the chance to do well even with FB commitment. We had a small window then to do it. But with the exception of hiring Majerus we never really hired the better coaches available each time we made a change. Even in the heyday all we saw was BB being a cash cow to fund other sports.

Lunardi now has Xavier as a "last four in" playing in Dayton.

Butler could beat them and knock them out of the last 4.

Strange, because they looked like the '86 Celtics when they played BSU.

X missed 16 FTS. LAME. Figured Butler would beat them. Could cost Steele his job.
