Okay but he won't be anywhere near OTR or downtown. He is driving through Avondale and attending an event in Norwood. Imagine if Butler instead of being located in Butler/Tarkington were located in the middle of Haughville, that's what Xavier is like. Norwood has a crime composite of 9. that's on a scale of 1-100 where 1 is extremely dangerous. Good points about Butler... even if it moved a few blocks south down Meridian. Even downtown Indy is no picnic now. And of course the Norwood area has to have "improved" because when I toured the campus, there had been a recent factory fire/explosion and everything was kind of cratered and a lot of windows boarded over. I mean it HAS to be better.... right? You are right, downtown Indy isn't great at the moment. The mistake people make is they attend a large event in a downtown area, like a Reds or Colts game, have a good time hanging around before and after and assume the district is always that safe. He should go and have a good time, but he deserved a heads-up.

The comments about the XU and UC areas are not wrong...My point is it's a real city, kids. You all did 4-6 years in *Muncie* while attending BSU. Let's act like it and don't scare so easy! ...Imagine if Butler instead of being located in Butler/Tarkington were located in the middle of Haughville, that's what Xavier is like. I grew up on the fringe of Haughville just South across the tracks... can't really imagine a college in Holy Trinity parish much less today's neighborhood. Michigan Street to W. 10th always a tough neighborhood.

I'm old enough to remember when we were equals in the 80s. X came to play the Cards and we beat them. Maybe an overtime game. That was then. I say X by 23.

We beat both Xavier and Butler in 2003, then in 2004 BSU hired Jo Ann Gora and everything went right into the shitter.

Would have been hard enough to keep pace with them, we had lost momentum. But the JAG hire to replace Buckley took us into the pits.

Yes, the difference between the two programs, which was fairly even footing after both had Sweet 16 runs in '90, is NIGHT AND DAY since BSU beat them in their place on ESPN 30 years ago. Not long ago there was a thread on biggest road win ever, and that game still gets my vote.

In an unrelated/related development, the local news outlet has decided to just pick up the out-of-town paper's synopsis of tonight's game.. hey, why not? Both Gannett papers and it's not like anyone's reading anyway.
Btw, the XU beat guy calls BSU a "veteran team."

Btw, the XU beat guy calls BSU a "veteran team." Laaaaaaame. Wait a minute, veteran team? Why, we have a roster full of players who haven’t even been born yet. Veteran team my ass….. Kinda goes against Whitford’s and the SP guy’s constant reminders about how young and inexperienced we are narrative.

Btw, the XU beat guy calls BSU a "veteran team." "Riding a three-game win streak that includes two of Xavier's three Quad-1 wins" Yeah and they don't want a quad 4 loss, so you can expect Xavier to slug us in the face early.
