Whit says we've played a really hard schedule so far and now it gets easier. What does that statement really say? Don't we play those same teams again? Is he satisfied to be .333 against the hard teams in his own conference? |

Whitford and the beat writer are pushing the "OMG we just played all the super great teams in the MAC, we played them tough even though we lost, now we can play the easier ones and get some wins and then play better against the Super Great teams next time around" narrative. Except the beat writer is starting to wonder if maybe we just aren't very good rather than just "too young."

Good teams still win a few We have loses to #229 Georgia Southern, #253 Florida International, #234 Western Illinois, and #249 Illinois State. Whitford isn't a coach, he is a freaking con-artist. |

I honestly don't think you're young anymore by mid January and most of the young guys have been playing quite a bit. Plus, Bumb is experienced and plays heavy minutes. Thomas is heavily experienced and plays a lot of minutes. And the transfers don't count. THEY AREN'T INEXPERIENCED. They all played at their previous schools. Especially Cochran and Jacobs. Brown doesn't (and shouldn't) play much so no affect there. If you can't grow up and grow together by 17 games in then your coach is not doing a good job preparing you. At some point your basketball instincts should kick in if you're any good at all. Sparks clearly is growing up. What's wrong with the rest of them? Even the vets are still making the same exhibition game (loss) mistakes in game 17. That ain't because of youth. It's because of poor coaching, and, well, they just don't play well enough consistently enough. Same as the previous 8 years.....

Guess what Coach Whitford, if you have the 8th or 9th best team in a 12-team conference, most of your schedule is going to be "hard", relative to the strength of your team.
That being said, 3 of the next 4 games will be against the three God-awful MAC teams ranked 300+. There will probably be at least a couple wins in there, which of course will cause our brain-dead "supportive" fans to start up their delusionalishness again.
But that respite is then followed up with two immediate bitch slaps, in the form of OU and Toledo.
