Like I said, haven't seen the team play a lot, but when I have Sparks has played a pretty basic game. Plays strong inside, takes the ball strong and direct to the basketball. Basically keeps it simple and doesn't fool around.
Tonight I've seen him try to double pump in the air on a shot right under the basket. Threw up a little hook a while ago. And he threw up that gawd-awful 3 in the first half. These aren't hallmarks of his game I've just missed are they?

I think sparks has been more composed prior to tonight. The yes. As a whole the team looks frantic and some really dad decisions are being made.

Pearson needs to play less and Sellers needs to play more. I hate that they frequently sub in together.

Pearson needs to play less and Sellers needs to play more. I hate that they frequently sub in together. You’re not wrong. And the style of tonites game would seem to suit Sellers more.

How are we ever going to be consistent especially on the road when your most experienced guard and floor leader Bumbalough plays like he is tonight? 0-6, no points, only 2 assists. You just can't have that kind of performance from an upperclassman against an opponent with a 5-11 record. What a head case. It's why a "pure shooter" as he is billed is such a lousy free throw shooter.

Sparks not getting calls tonight. Something he’ll have to learn to play through.

I don't know what's worse; the court or the basketball. Both hard to look at. Anyone think the dark court contributes to the turnovers? I'll bet that these weird floor coloring paint schemes lead to a very small advantage for the home team. Maybe it's just a couple plays we're an opposing player forgets where he's at on the court... Wouldn't take much in a super close game.

Looks like we will pull out a win in an ugly game. It's good to get a road win

That's the second game Thomas has been pissed about not getting the ball with sub five seconds so he could pad his stats

Cards win! Cards win! Not a W in a beauty contest, but on that floor we will take it. Cochran really came out to play in the second half.
Go Cards!

Ugly, but a road W. Cochran was obviously enjoying this one. Sparks had a “bad” game but still had 11 and 9. Nice bench contributions tonight. Brown hit some shots but still has a ways to go.

On to the next game.
We won with key players not performing up to par. Won't be able to do that in most the rest of our games.

I'll never argue with a win even against a horrid team like NIU. Thankfully our bench finally stepped up tonight and gave us 29 points. Our bench scoring the previous 4 games had been 10, 8, 12, and 13. Brown and Sellers especially have the potential to help offensively. Bumb & Jacobs combined for 4 points tonight with 6 assists and 1 TO. That's not good enough.
How about Cochran against his old team? 17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and ZERO turnovers. Went 3-4 from beyond the arc. Baller.
And even though Sparks got a little rattled tonight (who wouldn't playing on that floor, after that road trip, in a town that looks like a Gulag) but he still had 11 points and 8 boards. Kid is tough and he freaking works.
See ya'll on Saturday.
