With 39 seconds we worked hard and got a basket in 4 seconds to cut the lead to 2. That gave us a chance to get a stop and then have at least 5 seconds to tie or win. Instead we foul their best free-throw shooter on purpose and go back down 2 possessions. Stupid. Worse than Sparks shooting an 18 footer or 3 pointer. Whitford has proved over time to be poor at in game x/o’s and adjustments. How many tight games have we lost because of that? How many big leads have we blown because of poor game management? How does our administration not recognize these deficiencies that he’s displayed from day 1? We actually have some real talent this year yet here we sit, a .500 team in Feb, losing at home to a 5 win team that wanted it more, played harder and smarter. I like how CMU moves the ball. Their coach has a plan and it’s starting to have some success. CMU has some good freshmen and they have nice size. I was impressed.

Yeah, I debated doing it and I chose the wrong tactic.

Seen enough yet?
I have since this idiot jock sniffing manager was hired. How much more embarrassment does our university and its fans and alumni have to suffer before our administration wakes up? He's had more than enough time to prove himself and has failed miserably year after year.
The only post season we see is if we have to pay to play in it. Anyone who has ever played basketball sees the incompetence.
This fool is a joke.

We kind of just sleep walked through the whole game, played behind almost the whole game and just kept making the same stupid plays on defense. They finally pulled Bumbalough off number 2 Kevin Miller who just destroyed us. He penetrated at will, hit all his free throws down the stretch and almost dropped a triple double on us with 18 points, 10 assists and 7 boards. We fouled out two of their bigs, outrebounded them by 12 but as is usually the case we gave up a ton of easy threes, couldn’t stop dribble penetration and missed 10 free throws including some critical ones late. Healy the Aussie averages 11 and put 27 in our grill. Henderson averaged less than 10 and came off the bench for 25. Cochran is reverting back to playing wilder than a March hare again. He’s incredible at times and so loose with the ball at other times it’s maddening.
I thought CMU was a lot better than their OOC record. They’re big, decent guards and in the end they just out hustled us all night. Seems like every week there’s also a new standard of shittiness from the zebras and they didn’t disappoint. What an awful crew.
By the way, if you’ve been a masochist and watched this program for the past 10 years under this coach, it’s literally the same shit different year on this board every year at this time. We beat a powerhouse lose to an outhouse and stumble to the finish line. We will make the top 8 and maybe win a game then bow out. It’s Groundhog Day and we all keep coming here and repeat the same stuff over and over.
At least golf, baseball, fishing are around the corner. Three more home games and it’s a wrap.

I'm glad we don't have to make up the ckvid game with them. BTW I thought Brown did a good job on Healy when he was in there.

Brown did a great job on Healy last night sticking on him like glue not letting him even get a shot off. Good to see Luke drain nothing but net back to back 3’s in the second half.

If you watched the game on ESPN 3 last evening, you got to see Whitford’s “propaganda” machine in full force at halftime. We got to see Whitford in the locker room after the Toledo game praising our teams win and the fact we are playing our best basketball at the right time of the year bullshit. And to make it better, we got to see interviews with all assistant coaches praising Whitford’s coaching ability. I found it amusing that Darner only spoke about how he has learned to be more laid back, etc. Even interviewed a couple of players. This reeks of trying to save his incompetent ass.

I sit 3 rows up behind the bench and saw something amazing last night. Mid way through the 2nd half, during a media timeout - while Whit was chatting the officials, Darner jumped in the huddle and laid into the team. Paraphrasing, but he said something like "Dammit, get your heads up, show some energy and passion and play like you want to win this game". That is the first time I can remember a red-faced coach rip into our team ... I was a bit worried he was going to stroke out ... and he said way more than I quoted above, but that was the first time in 4 years that I have seen someone attempt to light a fire and gets some intensity into our team ... usually timeouts are not loud and just basic X&O talk ... never any passion or energy, as we all expect.

BSU played mediocre defense in the 2nd half. They had a 3 point lead with 6 seconds left and couldn't keep CMU from scoring. Then BSU goes scoreless the first 4 minutes of OT.
Way to close out a game at home.
