I’m sure the campus needs a trash picker. That’s the only position I see him being able to handle.

We could move him and make him the highest paid secretary in the world Towel boy manager is in his blood. Give him a clipboard and let him keep the shot chart. Maybe he could hem up one leg of Luke Browns shorts so he doesn't have to hike them up to show off his leg tattoo. (which my mother thinks is a bad bruise every time she sees it)

Here are the key details of the article Calhoun linked in the previous post:
"Termination clauses If the university terminates Whitford without cause it would have to pay liquidated damages in the following amounts:
Between July 1, 2021 and April 30, 2022: $519,125 Between May 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023: $351,083 Between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024: Remaining base salary
In Whitford's previous contract, the university would've paid the base salary for the remainder of the unexpired term."
Whitford's base salary is $336,083 per year.
Therefor there are $168,042 reasons for waiting until May 1st of this year to fire Whitford. If you wait until next year and fire him on May 1, 2023, you only save another $15,000. If you wait until after May 1, 2023 you only pick-up $28,007 in "savings" per month until the university is entirely off-the-hook on May 1, 2024.
I think you are forced to wait until May 1st of this year. If this is too late to get a decent replacement, that is where Darner comes in. Depending on his contract, he may even be under contract until May 1, 2023; although you probably want to give him a few more bucks for head coaching responsibilities.
This contract Whitford has, in my opinion, is set-up to dump him on May 1, 2022.

Assistants are almost always on one year deals so Darner may or may not still be under contract on May 1st (most run through early April). John Gross makes $400,000 plus incentives, so we can find quality in our price range. 00 can go flog himself..............

You have more confidence than I do we get a lot more bang for our buck. We'll see how happy the next guy makes everybody. IF administration buys in.

THIS group cares more and is much more likely to get a short term celebration and then find not so much has changed. Maybe we'll get lucky. I will always support the players and coach, that I know!

Fan base doesn't give that much of a damn. Really ? Those 8,000 empty seats at Worthen every home game represent the fan base that gives a damn. I'd say the 2,000-3,000 that still show up for games are a mixture of fans that don't give a damn and don't care what the product is on the floor, and those who somehow enjoy having the last bit of hope beaten out of them a couple of nights a week.

Exactly what reason(s) has Ball State provided its fanbase to give a damn the last 20 years? BSU devalued and emasculated a program that once had a large and excited fanbase. I know a lot of people who went from support>disgust>apathy. In fact, the majority of people I know that were fans in the '90's followed this path....actually all of them.
Mills is correct that most people who still show up don't care much about the quality of the program. They just want a warm place with some bright colors, noise and movement on a winter's night. Then there is a minority of oddball masochists (e.g. the group here) that show up and suffer. Then there is me who never shows up but values BSU basketball as an ultra-productive butt of jokes.

Dream on about 8000 fans out there ...In glory days we wouldn't have that many more, with more Muncie population and income.

There are some thousands of people in the area that would come out to support quality basketball and winning. Not all of them every game, but enough to completely transform the attendance level and the atmosphere at BSU games. I have seen this with my own eyes recently. There was more than enough to fill NewCastles gym (9000+) to standing room only.
Don't ever let a mediocrity merchant bullshit you on this point.
