Kudos to Akron for playing UCLA so tough. For what it's worth, I thought the referees jammed them a couple times down the stretch including Freeman's last two fouls and a blocking call at the 5-minute Mark that should have been a charge.

Really enjoyed Akron. Gained some respect for the MAC. First time since 2017 the MAC champ lost their opening round NCAA Tournament game. I was a little disappointed frankly. Akron remains one of only two current MAC teams without an NCAA Tournament win. The other? Northern Illinois. |

Really enjoyed Akron. Gained some respect for the MAC. They won respect and deserved credit for a good job peaking at tournament time.
The MAC had 4 teams that were season long pretty close. But I am not sure any of the other 3 would have played as well without that "peak" factor. Even if UCLA did not play its very best, the way for a MAC win is it all needs to come together at the right time!

Toledo got drilled at home by instate rival Dayton this week in the NIT. I always wondered why those two didn’t play each other in the non conference season, seems like it would be a good out of conference rival, like our ISU series, but after getting run off their home court I could see Dayton not being too interested.
