Adding to the illustrious, impactful list of BSU MAC all-freshman team selections this century (not making this up): Maurice Acker Melvin Goins Jauwan Scaife Chris Bond Aaron Adeoye Zavier Turner Sean Sellers Jarron Coleman How do you think we hung all those banners in the 2000's? I anticipate continued BSU domination of the MAC! The thing that strikes me about that list is that 5 of the 8 did not finish their careers at BSU. If history foretells the future, either Sparks or Sellers will transfer. The other thing I found interesting in checking on a few of those players is that Adeoye is still kicking around professional football. I thought I had remembered him picking up football after he left BSU but didn't realize he was still out there. Supposedly with the Packers practice squad last year.

If history foretells the future, either Sparks or Sellers will transfer. With the relaxation of transfer rules, both are probably gone in another year or two.

The list is very evocative of the general atmosphere of failure and false hopes around BSU basketball in the 21st century. You have transfers, head cases, failure to develop and even outright regression.

I hope we get thumped by Ohio, fire Whitford by Monday, and hire Bruce Weber by late next week.

Maybe someone a tad more youthful? We can’t be picky though. If a coach who has taken 3 schools to the Sweet 16 is out there, you’d be foolish not to take him.

We had a chance at him back in the day when he was an assistant at Purdue. Picked someone else.

My thought is the age factor might work in our favor by putting him in our price range. Let him hire a quality assistant and you could take care of BSU's coaching situation for the next decade plus.

Isn't Weber in late 60's? I thought he'd retire in a few more years from B12 gig, but he's pretty harsh about the fans and KU.
You have a point that he's not going to be a hot prospect at big schools.
I doubt the price is going to be right, though, but KState even 10 years ago was kind of surprise hiring. He had been looking at lesser schools.
What went wrong there anyway, I wonder?
I'm surprised he didn't keep winning.

When you lose an exhibition game to Ft Hayes State as they did in the fall of 2020 your in trouble. Then throw in 3 losing seasons in a row your gone. The big problem is they could not recruit.

Absolutely ecstatic for Sparks. This is a young man that I, for one and having seen him play in high school, wasn't sure he could even play at the MAC level and now he's FOY. What an accomplishment. Is there an implication that this staff "can really develope players"?
