Apparently J. Davis may be eligible for a sixth year; Tom Davis of the News Sentinel made mention of this in a post season summary back about the time Bsufans.com went down. I haven't been able to find the article again but it has been mentioned on the MAC message board site and it appears there's a good chance the sixth year will come about. Has something to due with the circumstances when he was at UC or some such thing(s).

I saw the same article , didn't mention it since haven't heard anything since ... Hope it happens be good for both Davis and the team ... He is a real asset on defense. He will always get minutes. If he develops some offense, nothing flashy just hitting open shots, getting to the basket and getting fouled, wow! Then he is a really solid MAC player who gets starters minutes and is a key player in the run to the top of the MAC in the 6th year. This year he will play a lot even if he is not that productive offensively, we aren't that strong and not deep at guard. We don't know for sure how strong the JUCO transfer is but when persons comes on line the next year he will probably take minutes away especially if Davis is not improving. I love his focus and intensity on defense, and I am hoping a lot of his shooting woes came down to having to play so many minutes, so hard, without enough relief.

I apologize for being "in the dark" but what is the basis for a sixth year?
I knew there was a fire at his home or something when he was at Cincy which apparently was the motivation to transfer to BSU.

I wonder if the basis for a 6th year would be how little he played in his sophomore season at Cincinnati. He played the first six games that year before not playing again. If I remember correctly, an injury knocked him out.
It seems like the NCAA allowed him to basically re-do his junior season due to the personal/family hardship, where he played like 4 games before coming to BSU.
Maybe Davis and BSU can argue in their petition next spring that he never really finished his sophomore season or received credit for a medical redshirt season. For what it's worth, I've heard a couple of rumblings that BSU is cautiously optimistic the petition will be granted.

Good news.
Nice to have an all in defender. Wish he were an average outside shooter. His man could not then clog the lane on d.
Think he will be better this year.
