Good luck to him. Here's hoping the team and his family knew before the leak. We will see if it will be Darner or another recruit. Exciting off-season coming up!

Well if Wikipedia is reporting, it's gotta be true, right? "On March 14, 2022, Ball State fired Whitford after nine years as head coach."

Great, but why didn't we do this last year ? It's the right decision, but as usual, we f'ed it up.

If you look at Verbal Commits, he only had 2 offers out to high school players graduating this year and another 2 next year. That's with at least 3 openings on the roster for next season. He would normally have 8 to 12 offers for those two recruiting years by now. He never made the 20 to 30 offers some coaches make, but more than what he had out there now.

I don't think it's unusual, given the way the portal works now.

Nah that's typical for lazy Jim.

We need a ''teacher of basketball'' not a cheerleader of basketball. He or she needs to hire some recruiters that can bring in two...I said two legit D-1 players per year. If we can't sign two legit D-1 players per year we should close down Worthen and make it a student union building. I think we need a NAIA or D-2 coach that can teach the raw talent the recruit staff signs. Let's say over eight seasons we lose two of those recruits. We would have six legit left plus role players to form a pretty good MAC team. We should be able to reach at least a NIT tournament with a MAC Tournament soon after that would put us in the big dance. The last thing this school needs is another twenty first century coach who lets the players run amok of the hardwoods. I could go on but I won't.

I'm guessing the search starts and ends with Darner.
Cuonzo Martin is out of our pay range. We could pick up somebody from a lower division, but I think they'll look at Darner as the "bridge" or "safe" pick.
