I could not have said it better than Reevo.
I’m confident Beth will make a good choice; she has a good track record with hires thus far.
I like McCollum and I like the Coach at Colgate.
Darner would be acceptable if Whit hasn’t screwed up his head.

My criteria if I were on the search committee: 1. Recruiting, Recruiting & Recruiting. Take risks and don't be afraid to lose some. Emphasize rebounding, defense and toughness. Emphasize the weight room. Establish contacts in Europe. 2. Be different from your contemporaries. Stay away from the status quo! Don't be a follower. Think differently. 3. Build a Blue-Collar tradition of hard work and physical play. Play Inside out, not outside in. 4. Be involved with the community. No. 4 is something I'd write into the contract, and I'd probably do it as a bonus. Of course, there will probably be bonuses in there for things like conference championships and NIT, NCAA appearances, but I'd also put an attendance bonus in there somehow. Something like this: Make a baseline for attendance, say 3,500 per game. If the coach manages to get 4,000 per game on average, he gets whatever income is generated by that increase. I might even give him an extra bump for increasing student attendance moreso than the general public. That would at least be motivation for him to get involved with the community and the student body.

I don't think anyone's brought up Tonagel this year have they? Usually that name pops up. 475-116 record. 28-6 this year.

What was kid right about Sparks? The Kid was saying before the season began Sparks was going to be a stud. Most of us (including myself) thought he would be a project that might even need to redshirt this past season.

Goetz wants to bring more diversity to the Athletic department. Fact and have no issue with that, with the best talent getting the job. Fields worked closer to the FB program than Goetz did and is an up and Comer. Good opportunity to turn BB around on the admin side. Fact. What's stupid about that? Because I would assume she will interview multiple qualified professionals and hire whomever she feels is the best candidate. I doubt any of it will have anything to do with race. If you don't think there might be a very heavy thumb being put on the scale in to help certain establishment-favored groups, then you have been paying absolutely zero attention to anything that's been in academia in recent years, or decades. I imagine it sends huge tingles up and down Mearns's and Goetz's spines to think of themselves as crusaders for diversity and social justice. I can't see that there can be any rational doubt about this....it's not exactly hidden, you know. In fact, it's very fashionable to advocate such things in the open. Of course, after such a hire you then have to execute a complete 180 and pretend no such thing ever happened...and even to actually beileve that it did not. Orwell called this "crimestop" "Crimestop refers to the ability to stop short of any thought that might be heretical or unorthodox before it is even thought, as if by instinct."

This is Goetz’s chance tonreally solidify her major sports credentials. She gave Neu some time and he won a championship. If she lands a coach who delivers a championship in the next 3 years she’s golden.

Checking though, hiring a "hot babe" in Tyler Cochran's shorts wasn't stupid and warranting getting deleted? Neither was the whole thread about claiming "racism' if Whitford was kept on? If you can't see the humor in that, you must not have any testosterone left in your body.If our world has gotten to that point, they better delete all 11 seasons of Married with Children and a whole lot of other comedy series.

I don't think you would get any "crusader" status now.

Agreed, one can only hope that she will still find the best available coach albeit one that checks boxes, if she is concerned whatsoever about her legacy or future job prospects. With college football or basketball head coach hirings, I would think your ability to attract and hire a winning coach has more value than box checking.

Nothing here is getting deleted. The new guy just does not get what this board is yet. Just wait till this thread starts talking about hot dogs and glitter farting unicorns. He will see our attention span is and our humor can rival any middle school on the nation
