Another day, another goose egg in the portal. Guys want to get paid. We aren’t paying. Who could have ever anticipated that kids are attracted by money? What a fluky, unpredictable situation! I think if BSU just remains patient, kids well eventually stop liking money, and we will be able to recruit on an even basis again. |

Yeah but Butler signed a Portal Top 50 guy today, and no one offered that kid a NIL. The vast majority of the guys in the portal aren't making money at their new destinations. |

But for the most part I have no idea who we’re targeting and if Lewis is being ultra selective. No idea. It does seem unusual that he’s not gotten anyone yet but maybe he’s not settling for players whit could have gotten. I guess we’ll find out in the next couple weeks as the dust settles. |

Unfortunately, only one of those guys still remains unsigned ... and neither Lewis nor Botts has followed anyone else recently ...

I’m still hoping Jaylin Sellers can convince his HS teammate, RayQuan Taylor, to come to BSU. At 6’9” he’d bring some much needed depth. Wondering if we’re pursuing Ohio State’s Justin Ahrens. We could use a perimeter shooter & he could definitely get some clock. |

Anybody seen that momentum that was around here a few weeks back? Sure, no surprise there. Mike Lewis, despite everyone thinking he is superman, is doomed to not be quite as magical as fans expect. Plus. Recruiting isn't as easy as you think it is for anybody in a new coaching position.
There is a real waiting game here for a large number of the recruits, many the ones we are most likely looking at. The reality is we may not be 1st choice if we are going after the best of the lot.
Aside from that there are so damned many kids in the portal, it takes some time to both screen and vet the players nobody was looking at until the season was over, and to arrange visits for them.
This is also finals week and you can't get a transfer unless they are in good academic standing so that is delay factor.
The market is starting to clear. Let's not be too concerned yet.
I could be wrong here, but I would bet the new staff would like to have scholarships to use in the next year where they can hit some HS recruits so that makes 5th year recruits attractive to us. I suspect those 5th year decisions where we may be looking at one or two scholarships, are also backed up as schools give priority to those most attractive portal transfers with more eligibility.
