Dakich is a tool. He had 2 twenty-win seasons at BG, never went to the NCAA in nine years and was 22-39 his last two seasons. If he was the genius and know-it-all he self proclaims to be, he wouldn't be doing talk radio in Indy. He's probably fun to be around to hear stories or play a round of golf with but he's so self-righteous and egotistical it's puke-worthy. Dakich now moonlights on Outkick doing quasi-sports-political-commentary. His tool box is pretty much empty. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I'm actually embarrassed for him And now his shtick for peddling shit? “I don’t know I’m just asking questions.”

Looking forward to seeing his staff. I’m sure there will be some former Butler Bulldogs on it. Exciting times for the program! Long overdue.

"I'm about ball, dude ... players make plays. I want to coach you and teach you to do the things on the basketball court that equate to winning and then I want to go let you do those things." - @coachmikelewis to @dandakich Dude, will Dan Dakich will become our new friend?
He will always be Lewis' friend so by default. Just the way those blindly loyal guys work. But, I like Dakich and his honestly and no holds barred expose of what is really wrong in College hoops. I am often amused by those folks who see the word Dakich and feel compelled to react. He is just another talking head that some folks like and others hate. I do not know anyone who is lukewarm on him. Compelling repartee that makes me ask questions and look for the deeper story. He is well respected amongst the coaches that are doing it right. Hated by the guys who have skeletons in the closet.

Well, some of us still remember him bad mouthing bsu and bsu students after we beat his ass one year (he got ejected that night,) plus he never misses a chance to bash Ray Mcallum as a person and a coach, so we’re not gonna cut dakich a whole lot of slack on here.

I, for one, was quite excited about the Whitford hire at the time. I liked his talk about analytics and most especially I thought he would bring some recruiting juice, having been involved, as I believed, in some really successful high level recruiting at AZ. In retrospect, I don't think Whitford had jack squat to do with Arizona's recruiting success. Probably it had more to do with AZ's willingness to be sleazy and the benefits of Nike basically paying the players on behalf of one of their flagship BB programs. (I have no way of knowing if Whitford himself was involved in that part of it.)
Lewis is obviously not a Sherman Plan hire, nor do I imagine he was a 00mph plan hire (use an imaginary, magical source of money to outbid everyone for the hottest candidate). I suppose we were spared a bidding war by the same reasons that made it take so long for Lewis to get a head coaching job while being an assistant for so many years. I have no idea what those reasons were....but they temper my enthusiasm for the hire, whatever they might have been.
Still, I'm about a hundred thousand times more optimistic than I would have been if we'd kept Whitford...so there's that.

I wonder how many times his hiring will get mentioned on tonight's UCLA vs. N. Carolina game? Good timing on the hire at least for that to happen.

The man is excited to get to the go to the Indy 500 live and be back in Indiana so he doesn’t have to special order Bush light in Calabasas” my maaan!! But in all seriousness, great interview in all aspects, not just basketball. His last remark was probably the biggest one to me “I’m very comfortable in who I am, I know exactly who I am, I know where I’m from and I’m not changing. If you don’t like this were probably not gonna work” All aboard the Micheal Lewis train!!!!

I took a couple things away from the interview. He showed more emotion and likeability in 5 minutes than Whit did in 10 years. My biggest concern is this guy seems the exact opposite of Whit. I'm a bit concerned that our very liberal president and AD may clash with our Busch light drinking dude who seems ready to kick some ass. If they can coexist then I think we have a chance
