If you think we are having problems with the transfer portal, look what has happened to the Buffalo roster over the past 48 hours according to the website Verbal Commits:
1) SF Jeenathan Williams is intending to forego his remaining eligibility in order to play professionally
2) C David Skogman will be transferring via the portal
3) PG Ronaldo Segu is intending to forego his remaining eligibility in order to order to play professionally
At least with the coaching change, we have a chance to retain some of ours. There guys are probably all gone. Williams was rated a 4 star recruit, Segu a 3.5 star and Skogman a 3 star.

They underachieved with the talent they had. Not surprised guys are leaving.

oh man that is brutal. Almost wish there was a moratorium on poaching players from the program the coach just left. But then, if Lewis has any guys from UCLA interested in Muncie......

They underachieved with the talent they had. Not surprised guys are leaving. No. The players left because it suited their self interest. Buffalo recruited some good talent, that is one of the costs. Early exit is now on the radar for every good player. If winning a MAC championship was a big lure, these 3 would have had pretty good odds of that by staying.
There is a good case in the reality of a revolving door roster for recruiting a core of players you have a chance to keep and develop into rotation players and have to search nearly every year for the two or three difference makers that are here today, gone tomorrow.

That possibility of a coach developing good players and taking them with him easily is something we haven't talked about, but this sure makes it obvious that is going to happen.

I meant in terms of, maybe the dynamic with their new coach the last couple years wasn't great.

You wake up after a pretty decent season thinking, well we are pretty set for next year, and it is all gone in 24 hours! WTF!!! I don't think that you can control the poaching and coach following. It has been going on forever, and part of the game. Coach Lew will get us some players. . .

Seems more likely to happen when a coach moves up. And. Somebody mentioned elsewhere those Southern California kids might not want to go to Muncie after Westwood.

What's interesting about the Buffalo situation is Williams and Segu leaving early to pursue professional ball.
You don't typically see kids leaving eligibility on the table to play professionally overseas and those two, while good MAC players, don't strike me as NBA level talent.

I am skeptical they came to Buffalo for some idealistic goal to be champions or to get a degree. Why wait a year to proceed with the logical pro pursuit?
