Lewis is able to sell his vision to these guys. Huge. They got the Sherman Plan backwards. They were supposed to test if the coach candidate could sell his vision to young men BEFORE hiring him. Oh well.

We are short handed at forward. Lewis can set up a 3 guard look.
We have minutes for 2 big guards in that setup, have only Windham, maybe Cochran.
Even if Jihad is improved we need a big forward and a wing forward. Thomas played a lot of minutes. Cochran can play F/G, maybe good to retain him.
A forward who can shoot outside would head up my needs list.

I'm going to stick up for Cochran. I think he is an interesting and fairly unique player. Yes, he tries to do too much on offense, but he's so far played in the environment of two dogshit teams: the 337th and the 267th in the country...that can skew a player's thinking. He led the team in steals and was 2nd in rebounding, and shot a very respectable 37% from three, and 73% while shooting the 2nd most free throws. He is rugged and plays with some verve.
I would be disappointed in a coach that couldn't think up an important and useful role for a player like that. If I were coach, I would at least have a heart-to-heart talk with him and see if he seems open to a different sort of role on a different sort of team.

The two question marks on the roster were Hendricks and Windham. Not in portal? But no production. If your Lewis do you just cut them loose. I don't think he will. Windham might be a player if he buys in Optimistic to think he or Hendricks suddenly become a plus. If we see Windham play hard on D he has a chance.

I’m not sure Lewis has any use for a player that refuses to pass the ball. Cochran did a lot of good things but selfishness is not part of Lewis’ plan for BSU basketball.

If you use Sellers like Whit should of, Cochran is not needed. Agreed, a guard rotation of Jacobs, Brown, Bumbalough, and Sellers works for me. Cochran's minutes could be given to Sellers and Brown. Lewis should be able to figure-out how to best use Brown. Cochran really was playing out of position at the 3 and 4. Get someone better suited out of the portal for those minutes. I hate to give up on any of these kids, including Windham. Playing in a system that lacks cohesion and comprehension has to be more than difficult. It does get crowded with six or seven backcourt players opting for time.

I agree with sherm on Cochran. He just needs to be coached. He is talented but plays bat shit crazy. If he could tone it back and play within an offense that worked we might see him differently. He played with energy every game when others did not

I talked with Cochran after the season and he apologized for his play and said he felt bad because he did not think we(fans) got to see how good he really was. He also said he just wants to win. He is a well spoken and just a nice guy. I don't know if he can change his game or not. I don't think and hope Lewis will not let everyone run around like chickens with there heads cut off. Maybe Cochran was just better at everyman for himself cause that's all whits offense really was

I do think Cochran actually I know Cochran had a problem with the handling of Brown. He was not the only one who did not appreciate the fact that Brown was handed minutes from day one. It might have been different had brown been around and beat someone out to earn those minutes.
