Windham is interesting cause we will never know what he did to earn a spot in whits doghouse. He had the one crazy game but we don't know much else about him. Good thing is everyone who stays is going to have a clean slate Lewis so far seems like the kinda coach who is going to play his best options as long as they play the way he wants them too That playing the way the coach wanted him to seemed to be the problem. Since he showed he could be a streaky shooter, and we really needed shooting, and since he did have that one game later in the season, but then disappeared it raises big question marks.
Looked almost like he refused to play D, was never very interested in anything but looking for a shot. Even after that one game Whit's comment was he knew what he needed to do to play. So he wasn't doing something... In the Florida tournament I thought Windham showed a lot of potential. The D issue is a joke. Our entire defensive effort and execution was horrible the whole season. Stats don't hide that fact.

We cannot win to the level we want to with small guards who aren’t quick. It would appear we need a quicker guard who can shoot but also penetrate and create. And we gotta be able to guard all those guards in the MAC who absolutely torch us. That’s got to change. Can Jacobs fill that role? Brown certainly does fit the description above. Sellers and Jacobs do not.

We might find Lewis to be a tremendous coach but let’s be honest, the cup board is not exactly full. Some of the guys on the current roster have to go. It sounds cold and heartless but it is absolutely true. Lewis is going to want to start with the absolute best roster and guys that are going to be able to fit into his system. He talks about be able to defend and being tough, this pretty much eliminates about 70% of the roster right from the start. I would retain maybe 5 to 6 guys and fill the rest through the portal and freshman recruits. He has to find another big who will rebound and defend and prefer this person to have length and bounce. Also, a skilled wing who is athletic who can shoot and more importantly, score in a variety of ways. All incoming guards will be tough, athletic and can distribute and score and play down hill.

So who would you keep besides P, B &J? I think Jacobs is a must. I think he keeps Brown and Bumb to not piss off the locals. Maybe Windham if he has impressed coach. Lose Hendriks for sure, maybe Pearson. That stills gives him 6 or 7 recruits.

He already told the team they are all his guys. He’s not dumping anyone. Now, if some chose to leave I’m sure he won’t try to stop them.

The first thing Lewis is looking for is leadership, a guy to take control of the team on the floor. There wasn’t a guy in the starting line-up this year that had any leadership take charge ability. BSU played like a bunch of lost sheep nearly all season long. Purdue struggled with the same issue and Matt Painter will tell you that to your face. Lewis is a no nonsense coach and will find someone to run his team like he wants it run. As Steve Yoder said many times, you’re only as good as your point guard, and he had a good one in Ray McCallum.

Thus, possibly why Cochran is still in the portal. Maybe he's really not welcome, despite some seeing positive attributes.
When meeting with players, I don't know what kind of feeling Lewis is getting. On one hand you have to think that most players who came to play for Whitford sought some level of softness in their approach to the game. Are they now willing to tackle a different approach?
We also know Lewis already has met a certain 6-6 tight end with a basketball background. Would a football player bring some toughness? Doubt he'd shy away from physicality. Know that's a real long shot, but I'm always intrigued by these possibilities, however unlikely they might be.

Cochran should stay in the portal! He has some talent but sharing the ball is not one of his talents.

Seems I heard Neu joke with Lewis about staying away from that TE and he’s not allowed to play basketball anymore.

Gee, I wonder if there's a coincidence between the failure Whitford was and the fact that he NEVER recruited a PG in his 9 years at BSU?

Cochran should stay in the portal! He has some talent but sharing the ball is not one of his talents. Back in the day he was the kind of teammate you dreaded.
