Well, we’ll see how that works out. He was toast by the end of his time at OSU. Maybe he’s healthy enough now.

He is healthy now. Rumor $2.4 million/yr plus a $1 million pool for assistant salaries.

They're going to try what the Colts have tried to do at QB: Short-term bridge to the next generation.
Matta a 2-year, 3-year max fix. Assistant will be hired to groom for the top job. Maybe Norad since Butler loves its alums.

Maybe Norad since Butler loves its alums. Matta is only 54 years old, if his health is good he could be there a while. However, Collier's contract runs out in 2024, so Matta might become the new AD at that point. Don't be stunned if Jeff Boals leaves Ohio for an associate coach position with Matta.

Why would Boals do that?

Because he will probably get about $400 from Butler now and slide into Matta's spot in three years. That's just a guess on my part though. Butler might have a completely different plan.

Matta had better hire an ast to do the recruiting because he is not the man for the job. Boals is likely looking while still a warm name for jobs although the hot is gone. Ohio unless he catches two all MAC level transfers is going to drop out of the top MAC level next yr along with Buffalo.

Why can't Matta do the recruiting ?
Michael Lewis should call Emerson Kampen to see if he is interested in the BSU assistants opening. That is if Butler doesn't keep him.

1st of all, I am shocked he is that age. Looks much older.
Second, the IU set up to support Woodson as their “family” coach is crumbling away.

The AD hired them but Woodson would rather listen to guys not on staff. Randy Wittman and some other guy. No one was able to really say what Matta did there.

Not that I want Butler to be good again.

I hope they have given him budget for a good staff. That in a case like this with a coach wanting to move on up in 4 years means more than coaching salary.

It would be nice with coaching changes at both schools if BSU and Butler could find their way back onto each others schedules.
I can't remember the history of the rift there but it seems like someone said BSU officials offended Butler in some way years back. I'm sure those BSU officials have probably moved on, but if that was the case, Collier probably would still remember.
Either way, getting a game with the Bulldogs, even if only in Hinkle, would be an upgrade for both school's non-conference schedules. You know our schedule wasn't much, but Butler played its share of non-conference dogs last year, too.
