Because he will probably get about $400 from Butler now and slide into Matta's spot in three years. That's just a guess on my part though. Butler might have a completely different plan. I saw on the Ohio board that Boals makes $700k. That's a big roll of the dice to make the move to Butler. He makes $581,000 plus bonus. Butler would have to guarantee some sort of termination package if things go south.

Dakich alluding to several big 10 transfers who might land at Butler. I’d say it won’t take long for Matta to rebuild.

Dane Fife is apparently headed to Butler. Interesting, it must mean Matta feels the issues at IU are largely Woodson's fault.

The IU ship looks like it is taking on water. Might be just a tiny leak but it smells otherwise.

I could very well be proven wrong, but I think Butler's best days are behind them in basketball. Considering that their best days were consecutive national championship game appearances, that's probably a pretty safe bet. Fair point and I see what you're saying, but that wasn't exactly what I meant. I was thinking more about overall winning percentages and competing in the top tier of the Big East on an annual basis.

In three years under Holtmann, they were among the best in the Big East. In 5 years under Jordan they were not. Is that some trend or is it merely the fact that they had a lower quality coach for the past 5 years? I think Matta will have them competitive again fairly fast.

Competitive I see, top of the Big East, multiple Final Four returns? I suppose Butler can take solace in the fact you are never right about anything.

Just watched the Butler / Matta event. Just saying, the dude hasn't aged well. How old is he? Maybe from the stress of the profession. Doesn't look that healthy, hope that it works out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WW6EViQ_9s

Yeah I watched the Butler deal as well. The whole event was dominated by an arrogant hubris, which is odd from a school with an acceptance rate of almost 80%.

Yeah I watched the Butler deal as well. The whole event was loaded with kind of an arrogant hubris, which is odd from a school with an acceptance rate of almost 80%. It was interesting that the focus was on the past; Tony Hinkle, Brad Stevens, et al. I appreciate that heritage and tradition plays an important role for a university / sports franchise, but I like the way that Coach Lewis was focused about the future. Even when Matta talked about winning an NCAA championship in the future, he lapsed into the past seasons and past mistakes. Just my thought when I was watching and contrasting the two events. BTW, maybe the Big East is too difficult for them.
