Put us on the map with Davis and his offense. Best to his loved ones.

Very sad indeed. I really liked Stan. He was a good man.
He got a raw deal. Brady left the cupboard almost completely bare when he left, and people blamed Stan. With that entire offensive line gone, Davis gonne, Page hurt, and most of the defensive playmakers gone, no coach was going to be successful with that team.

Parrish didn't really have a chance here for those reasons. His head coaching record after Wabash was never at schools where he had great chances.
OTOH a great assistant coach, he thrived with that job where he didn't have to be as much an executive and PR guy. He wasn't so much a big personality and motivator and could be more technical and focused.

Coach Parrish made Brady Hoke a millionaire and made a lot of money for Pete Lembo by signing two of the best quarterbacks this University has ever had, Nate Davis and Keith Wenning. I really thought he was the logical choice for the head job after Hoke left...I was wrong for a number of reasons. His best quality was evaluating college talent, especially in the backfield. He then could devise offensive plans to exploit the qualities of those players. He was brilliant. When he was a head coach he was in the wrong places at the wrong times. Coach Parrish gave a lot to Ball State and never received his due. This may sound strange but I believe he may have been the best losing coach we ever had. Ask that snake in the grass Lembo. He gained a national reputation riding the backs of Parrish players to great success then sneaking out of Muncie a few days before Christmas after recruiting no one for his entire tenure at Ball State. I salute Coach Parrish for taking on a very hard job as an assistant and getting great results with the players he brought in.

Thanks for that. I still remember the shell shocked look on the Nebraska QB's face after our game with them . He said "That quarterback" meaning Nate.
