This has nothing to do with how often or how little you post. For whatever reason he started piping off about the Midwest and muncie and making bread generalizations about entire groups of people and community. If he had just called Sherm or sweep an asshole no one would have batted an eye. As far as IU it's a great school. Great academics and a good time to visit. The problem is there obnoxious fans this is not different than most big 10 schools. Ohio State fans are actually much worse. Surely zone can agree on most of that. I haven't noticed any of that obnoxious behavior with him, and liked his post above. There is always a chance an innocent poster gets "swept" up in our own over "generalization" too. So let's admit that. Your point is a great one that BSU lives in a different world from fans at the big schools with inherently different identity issues. I am in an accepting mood, feeling "generally" good about a new coach from the IU universe. Hell, I am even thinking there are fine fans of tOSU. But, it's just a theory and I know one point of agreement with IU fans is that they share our suspicions on that subject.

Some die hard ball state fans have an inferiority complex when it comes to IU. Yes serious IU fans can be awful. But I grew up rooting for IU before I ever considered attending Ball State.
But we have a poster here (a couple apparently) who have decided that a 22 year old arrest with no actual conviction is enough to cancel a person forever - and really are upset that there were drugs involved in the arrest.
And yeah, Muncie Indiana isn’t great. It is slowly fading, and without some sort of miracle, isn’t going to recover. I spend a lot of time back home. No place is perfect, but it’s very depressing to go home. And I’ve not encountered a more close minded group of people - so it fits that we would have people cancelling an assistant coach over a 22 year old encounter with police.
This board was so positive after the initial announcement - but already we have complaints about an assistant coach, complaints that there is too much IU talk….it’s just sad that Ball State fans would be UPSET just because there is some sort of IU connection to the program. Yeah, it pisses me off. We should all be excited about the future. Instead we are dragging people for something that happened 2 decades ago, and because they went to a school people don’t like.

Maybe it was people protesting his friend's haunted house. That seems to have really shaken him up. Where is this haunted house? We have always had an active interest in spirits, magical thinking and other paranormal and abnormal activity. We need to investigate this, at least take a keg over and visit.

This is such a soft group of “fans”. So jealous of IU. I’ll never understand it. I will be the first to admit, I hate IU. but, I feel this hire was a good one. I do have concerns about the Associate Coach and the IU alum - but I will give the new coach the benefit of the doubt.

Nothing wrong with the Associate Coach I saw, and if Assistant Coach Meeks gets out of line now Mike Lewis will be in his face. Like him or not is one issue. Judging his character another with a lot of living he's done since. Any remote issue about his reputation from that past dispute with the Chicago Law, it's old news, doubt it makes much difference.

So, regardless of how long ago it was, it’s cool that a coach representing a university allegedly got caught with drugs? Yeah, some folks tend to get upset by things like that. (And I could care less where he went to school). And in what way has Meeks been canceled? He not losing his job and no one has demanded he lose his job. I assume he’s going to do a great job for our basketball program. Merely Having a critical opinion about somebody isn’t remotely canceling them. If that were the case then pretty much every person on earth has been canceled at some point. This is a message board. Stuff gets said, it means nothing and we move on. Meeks will be fine, we’ll be fine. as far as the IU thing, IU fans have come on here in the past and been pretty big jerks so there’s a little bad blood there. It’s a bsu fan board, we pretty much don’t care for any school but ours. Same as a lot of boards everywhere.

But we have a poster here (a couple apparently) who have decided that a 22 year old arrest with no actual conviction is enough to cancel a person forever - Maybe you should quote the demands that Meeks be "cancelled forever" or else unwad your panties and STFU. I'm mostly interested in whether he does or does not bring in quality recruits, but the $10 Chicago blowjob thing is an amusing side matter, which I will joke about whenever I might feel like it. People who come on this board and are clearly IU fans with a passing interest in BSU now because of the coaching connections can expect continued ridicule and abuse. Don't like it? Go back to Peegs.com.

This staff will not make me like or hate IU anymore or less. Winning or losing is on the staff it has nothing to do with IU. If A bunch of IU fans want to come to Worthern and support their guy great. If they want to come here and post about BSU great but I will not let this place be anything other than a BSU sight. Anyone starts trolling there gone but not before I do everything in my power to find out who they are in real life so we all have the opportunity to troll them right back

Reading the posts about issues over 20 years ago, has a strong resemblance to today’s cable news networks. With rare exception, relevance to what’s actually happening in our bb program (in the world) is totally missing.

Could you be more pretentious? My guess is "Yes." I grew up in Muncie Indiana. Then I moved away and started traveling the world. A $10 bj and an un-prosecutable amount of drugs 22 years ago does not bother me at all. People in Muncie objected to the movie theater selling beer. People in Muncie protest my friend’s haunted house. People in Muncie are often puritanical and naïve. You proved me right.

Simply getting older tends to move people away from habits like drugs and whore hounding, unless the person is question is just an out and out scum bag, which doesn't seem to be the case with Meeks.
I could easily have seen certain of my friends blundering into a similar episode, back in the day. You can be sure that this would not have affected their status among our friend group, and you can be even more sure they would have never heard the end of $10 blowjob jokes.

About 20 some years ago my friend group and I want to Vegas for a bachelor party. One of my friends was approached by an Asian hooked. We egged it on until he broke and took up the offer. An hour later he comes back after being robbed and roughed up. Not only was he the butt of all jokes the rest of the trip everytime we see him now we still give him hell.
