So why did the coaching staff keep playing the same players who quit after the NIU game. Coaches know when players quit. There were many players on the sidelines that maybe would have loved to have played with great effort namely Paddock. I would rather have lost with young eager players rather than with seniors who had quit. Loyalty. That's it. They sacrificed a season out of loyalty. Several guys, especially Plitt, should had some time on the bench reflecting on the poor performances they were putting out. Personally I'd have sat Plitt after the Wyoming game. He was dreadful and basically looked like his head wasn't in it. The staff didn't create any wake up calls. Many of us saw major red flags vs Western Illinois. We were flat, lacked energy and just didn't take the game to a really bad WIU team. We just went through the motions. We had opportunities to win the UT/Miami and NIU games and the veterans did not make plays. We had the NIU game won and...well, everyone saw what happened. We totally quit vs CMU and in the bowl game. Flat out quit. I'm hoping an influx of younger guys this coming season will at least lead to more inspired play. We might not win much but i want to at least see a team that's engaged and getting after it regardless.
And that is total bull#$%^ !!!!!!!!!
That's just piss poor coaching !!!!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are not much, if any, better coached in football than what we were in the Whitford era of basketball.

That scares me with this year especially with Paddock. If he's not at least decent after 4-5 games you gotta pull the plug and go with one of the youngsters. If you don't want to burn a redshirt for Blazek or Cobb then give Kelly a shot at that point it does not matter.

While no coach will ever say it I do not think there are any ideas or thoughts of Winning the MAC this year. I think the goal and hope is getting to and winning a bowl game Winning one game at a time isn't a bad idea. Talking MAC after winning a few makes more sense than talking it now.

Athlon magazine has us predicted last place in MAC West. Honestly, looking at the roster, I think it is a fair prediction. A little bit like being a Cubs fan this year, I’ll be rooting for specific players to break out in hopes for a brighter future, but 6 wins this year would be a pretty good outcome.

I think 6 wins is probably the top of the arc for this years squad.

Too have any bowl chance we have to beat army, GA southern and the fcs school. Conference wins especially west are going to be minimal Since I think I remember you driving down to Indy for an IUPUI game that was like the following week or something. Cancel your flight to New York right now, Rob. We dont play army.

Malcomb Lee is a great story no one's ever told. He could have easily transferred but he stayed and waited for his chance. When he got it he took it and now he ain't letting go and is pre season all mac

I'll also add yet another player confirmed the victory lap theory. Exact words were.. "We thought it was going to be easy. Then when it was not it was too late. We quit as a team after NIU. We got slapped with some humble pie" he went to say I'm paraphrasing now. The coaches told us everyday we had to work harder we did not it's on us. We're hungry again we want tge third bowl and we need to win it So at least 1 team captain is saying the right things and was blatantly honest about the debacle that was last year I’m not sure I buy it. 2020 was a cluster and we backed our way into the champ game. We showed up strong against an extremely overrated Buffalo team and then beat a depleted SJSU team. I’m sure nobody was eager to acknowledge how lucky we were but to think that we were world beaters and 2021 would be easy just doesnt add up. That’s okay I’ll take luck for that year! He’ll, how many times have we been on the wrong side of luck with out sports programs and and just got crapped on. It was sure nice to be on the other side for once.

The thing is Neu just didn’t sacrifice “a” season he potentially sacrificed several as a result of that poor decision. As a coach at the D1 level you’re number one job Is to win and Neu lost sight of that or just didn’t care which is even worst IMO.
