I’m not sure I buy it. 2020 was a cluster and we backed our way into the champ game. We showed up strong against an extremely overrated Buffalo team and then beat a depleted SJSU team. I’m sure nobody was eager to acknowledge how lucky we were but to think that we were world beaters and 2021 would be easy just doesnt add up. That’s okay I’ll take luck for that year! He’ll, how many times have we been on the wrong side of luck with out sports programs and and just got crapped on. It was sure nice to be on the other side for once. Dont get me wrong. I’ll take 2020 results every year. We can stumble and bumble our way to championships and I’ll be happy as can be. But to think because we got lucky one year meant the next year we were going to kick ass is what doesnt add up. |

That scares me with this year especially with Paddock. If he's not at least decent after 4-5 games you gotta pull the plug and go with one of the youngsters. If you don't want to burn a redshirt for Blazek or Cobb then give Kelly a shot at that point it does not matter. This is the big question for me. This will probably be a lost season, but I really hope we can identify the QB of the future. I read that Cobb was considered the best QB recruit to sign in MAC last year. Obviously Kelly came with hype and Blazek too could be the guy. I hope we play the right one, because I doubt all 3 will stick around if they don’t get the opportunity. |

Paddock may be the best QB on the team right now. If so, by all means start him. I just hope one of the 3 young guys breaks out by year end.

I know it's early, but are there any reports from practice? I'm interested to see if the transfer WR from Vanderbilt will have a big impact. Any updates on how the young qbs look, and who has the best shot to beat Paddock for the starting job?

Blazek could redshirt unless needed. If Blazek is the future though, may the best man win. |

Still say, “if Paddock is our starter, we are in trouble.” Paddock backed up Plett for three years. He was never able to replace him and saw very little playing time. I really hope the young guns are giving a fair opportunity to win the starting role. This does not look good for the future of Ball State football. The only good thing is that my wife has finally been able to convince me that I need to enjoy the game for the games sake, for the opportunity to support Ball U. I am.

Paddock may be better than we anticipate. We have barely seen him play. If he gives the team the best chance to win at the start of the season I have no problem with him being #1 on the depth chart.
I'm glad to hear Kelly is back in the mix. My hope is that one of the freshmen are good enough to win the job. Maybe just wait until after the Tennessee game.

This staff's emphasis will (or should) be with the younger players. Unless you have some inside knowledge there is no reason to believe that it will be anyone other than paddock to start the season. He has taken all the snaps with the ones up to this point. Kelly and blazek have been with all twos and threes. If paddock plays a couple games and really struggles then I hope someone else gets a chance earlier than later |
