I know we don't have much chance to win tonight but I'm still looking forward to seeing new guys. The great thing about college football is the renewal process and new faces each year. The last couple years we saw very few new faces and maybe in retrospect that wasn't the best way to go. It felt like the team played "fat and happy" last year. The hunger and spark we had during the great championship and bowl winning season just wasn't there last year. We won't be as good this year, but, I think we'll be more exciting and there'll be more promise for the future (as long as we don't get heavily depleted by that damned portal) I just hope for us to be fun and competitive and everything else will take care of itself. Let's see some of that spark and promise tonight and go from there.

Most of us know we will probably take our L’s this year, especially tonight, but there are always guys on the team to root for and reasons for hope. Maybe tonight we look for those glimmers of hope. That one or two big plays. That one or two breakout players.

We won't be able to run the ball. Paddock will be wild with his throws. Our Dline will give no pressure and will give 5 yards a pop on the ground. Our LBs will be constantly out of position and our secondary is no match for their WRs. Going to be painful to watch.

I know we don't have much chance to win tonight but I'm still looking forward to seeing new guys. The great thing about college football is the renewal process and new faces each year.... I think we'll be more exciting and there'll be more promise for the future (as long as we don't get heavily depleted by that damned portal) I just hope for us to be fun and competitive and everything else will take care of itself. Let's see some of that spark and promise tonight and go from there. I don't expect exciting things tonight, but we may see some good plays, a little spark here and there, and hopefully a focused team that keeps its composure and competes.
When you are 35 pt underdog, it looks like a good showing would be to cover that margin, get a couple of scores perhaps.
Tonight we see the new players but probably not the whole offense. I'd bet we are holding back some things for next game, and some things just won't work against an SEC defense. So, I'm prepared for a long evening and will be looking forward to a 4th quarter against their 2 and 3's to see if we can keep our heads in the game that long. I hated last year when there were games where the team had at least a chance to come back or show some life and had rolled over.

We're gonna play how we're gonna play regardless of how I feel (and I do try the reverse psychology anyway) so I may as well just enjoy our teams no matter what. Sure, I'll get frustrated and long for more success, but I'm just going to look for the positives now. If there are none we'll kick that around after the games. We all know the shortcomings.... we all see it, we all see it. But, for the most part we have great human beings on our squad so lets see what they can accomplish. I feel better about basketball than I have in a long time, I can tell you that.

I’m afraid this year could turn ugly but like others have said it’s time to move on with fresh blood. The best part of the 2020 thing for me was watching that group of kids grow from freshman to champions. I had been following them since they were high school seniors. I knew many of them somewhat personally. It was hard to watch them whimper out last year when they could have left as “legends”. I’m hoping for another similar run with some new guys

I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

I think with all of the negative speculation about the game and the season that the team should not show up tonight but instead get bussed over to Dollywood get on some rides tomorrow and get some of those cheap "I've been to Gatlinburg T-shirts and head back to Muncie and get ready for Western. Let Tennessee record any winning score they want but make sure we still get a big check with a note from Tennessee saying that it was a mistake to schedule BSU because we were such a small weak team and that they didn't think any of their crowd would show up as was hinted in the Muncie star today to see such a debacle.

Not altogether a bad idea really. Dollywood is pretty fun.

I am so disappointed with the negative feelings for this season before the first kickoff.
A 4-8 prediction from a fan base and program and coach that has been around as long as Neu and had success is unacceptable. We should not have that bad of a rebound season if we have good coaching...ever.
First, the beauty of college football is ALL GAMES MATTER! If you are a Division 1 competitor, you will give 100%. Calhoun, wash your mouth out with soap. That is a bullshit mentality. Unlike the rumor mill we hear about last year's team that coasted with unjustified arrogance, this next generation should be hungry and fired up to show what they got. If the rumors are true last year those guys should have had their butts on the bench. They will regret their half assed effort and commitment the rest of their lives.
Finebaum states to get on the Vol bandwagon after they beat BAll ST by 50. It's time to use the "no chance" BS from SEC pundits and shove it down their throat. Show up boys and make us proud! Compete until the last whistle. You will remember this game and atmosphere for the rest of your lives.
A buddy of mine went to App ST and still glows about the Michigan game.
Why not us? Why not now?
We can dream right? Fight Cardinals! Give it all you got!
There is nothing better to see than a bitter Vol fan after a loss. Just make sure you wear a hard hat to avoid the hurling debris at the game.
