This is minor league stuff. When I lived in Tennessee years ago, I went to a basketball game between Austin Peay and Tennessee State, except that according to one team's own warm-up jerseys it was "Tennesse State."
Not only did they make the mistake, they either didn't recognize it or they just decided to roll with it. Maybe they figured nobody in the state actually knew how to spell the state's name?
