Fuck that TN game lol
You guys want an important game? Wmu is basically a must win if we want a third straight bowl. Lose it and we can basically throw bowl talk out the window

Could be 6 more games like that. If we're lucky...

We have no reason to believe we are beating Cmu Toledo or miami. Niu is doubtful while Emu is trending up while we are trending down. So that leaves who ucon the fcs school and Georgia Southern(can we beat them) plus Ohio western and who is the other game. Is it Kent if so can we beat them

It certainly feels like CMU and Toledo are the class of the MAC this year, but it is a long season. I’ll wait until after the WMU game to hit the panic button.

Our players and coach were very positive and upbeat after the game last night. For them it was more about “how did we play after getting down big” and their vibe is the team kept grinding, kept working. They know the score was bad and they know they made a lot of mistakes but that isn’t stopping them from feeling GOOD about what they CAN do the rest of the way. They’re ready to get back to practice to work on stuff and get after Wmu. That’s far more important than how I feel as an alum/fan.

Did we sustain any major injuries last night that will prevent starters from seeing the field against WMU?

Did we sustain any major injuries last night that will prevent starters from seeing the field against WMU? None have been mentioned yet but it seems there’s always one we find out about right before the next game.

Would have been nice to have a surprisingly good thing or two come out of it instead of a seeing weaknesses exploited that we knew were there.
The idea we might come out hot and knock UT back on their heels and somehow stay in the game was kind of remote chance.
We made mistakes, which we in a more perfect world we might have avoided, but in any realistic outlook we had to expect. But it is beyond me to tell how much of the blowout poor outcome was being outmatched, how much it was really our failure to play up to expectations.
Hey, if we did not suffer injury, and if we come out of the game with some video with information coaches can use, we have a long week to get ready for a must win game. It's a teaching tool we would not have had playing cupcake opener.

I knew more about us last year after we struggled to beat a horrifically bad WIU team in our opener. You could see we had no hunger or spark and that played out all season. Last night I saw some promise from Paddock vs elite athletes. He spread the ball around and stayed steady. Tenn is just in a different world of college football. I’m not real happy with the coaching decisions in the first qtr. I get being aggressive and showing you’re there to play, but you gotta balance that against putting our d in really bad spots and the game was over very quickly. Neu and lynch have to be better.

Western will be the test…if they lose it’s time to fold up tents. Can’t really gauge anything from last years game, we had a +4 turnover difference. Doubt that happens again.

Oline needs to be much stouter than it was. No push in the run game.

Oline needs to be much stouter than it was. No push in the run game. Online didn’t provide many running lanes (much like last year), but they didn’t give up any sacks, which is pretty impressive. Part of that might be the quick release of Paddock. Plitt would hold the ball for way too long, and that is one area that it appears Paddock is better. The area I see Paddock needing to improve the most is accuracy. All in all though I thought our QB looked OK.

Hard to believe the 2nd game of the season is a must win but you can't afford to go 0-2 and 0-1 in the first two weeks. I assume we would beat Murray State on the 17th but getting to 2-1 is imperative, IMO.

I see what you're saying and that might be true of the players, but I do believe what we saw from the staff was more of the same we've seen with Neu and his staff over the years and also a harbinger of things to come from the staff this year, such as stupid decisions, putting the kids in no-win situations, an unprepared team, and an undisciplined, fundamentally bankrupt team.
