But we can’t close out games. Simple as that. The difference between winning and losing often comes down to a handful of critical plays, and we aren’t stepping up in those critical situations.
There are positives we can take away from these games, but we can’t deny the shortcomings. We absolutely have to be better in crunch time if we hope to win these upcoming MAC games. I’m moving on from Georgia Southern. Let’s bring home that Bronze Stalk Trophy!

Agree. Problem is they are the same shortcomings since like year 3 of Neu. (Years 1 and 2 we weren’t even close). The problems that lose games just aren’t going to go away.

getsomemaction.com/stats.aspx?path=football&year=2022 Currently: #2 in total offense yards in the league 4th best in yards given up #1 rusher in the league in yards #2 qb (yards) # 2 WR (yards) #1,2&7 players in defensive pass breakups #1 in the league in defensive pass efficiency I won’t offer an opinion at this time…just reporting the news.

As I said in a different thread it’s not the players or talent level we are close enough there

Exactly. The players are there. We’ve got kids who can play. We’re breaking down in key situations at crucial times every week and it’s the same kinds of breakdowns and drive stallers and to me that points back to the coaching. We can move the ball up and down the field between the 20’s but inside the red zone, especially inside the 10 the play calling puckers up and we kick field goals. We lack discipline that leads to dumb penalties. Neu talks about it after every game but nothing changes there. When we really need to take risks we don’t. Like punting at points in the game where we can’t afford to put our defense back on the field. That’s nothing new to this year. We just don’t seem willing to let our play makers make plays with the game on the line and it ends up biting us in the ass.

When we get really into that tempo offense WMU and GA southern had no answer. Could not stop it can we incorporate some running plays out of it maybe some rpo out of it with roll outs. I don’t know is paddock that immobile.
I had three questions could the defensive line pressure, Through 4 games the answer is no
How would oline play this one is tricky while they have not allowed many sacks I think it’s because of the ultra quick 2 seconds paddock has gotten rid of the ball. I was not expecting this. Steele is getting yards but I’m not sure he is getting them because the line is opening holes. Jury still out
paddock it’s been interesting numbers wise he looks great . Watching him he looks ok . Record wise it’s not good. Very similar to Results with Riley
play calling has been weird or bad depending on how you look at it are the plays being called to mask weaknesses with paddock or line maybe both?
For those who want to see a diff qb. Blazek is a big proto typical pro style guy if the line can’t block he will fail. From what I know and have seen he needs to drop back and pass. Your traditional QB
Kelly a combo guy, Big arm has the ability to take off running. Ad libs a lot would make some crucial mistakes but then make some spectacular plays no one else on the roster can make. Play calling would have to be changed a lot. Looks like most of todays college qbs.
Cobb Good arm but almost a run first guy right now. That could change but just don’t think he is there yet

Also of note they cut away at different times yesterday. First time they showed Blazek Helmet off with backups
Second time they showed Kelly with head set one standing with Mike Does this mean anything?
I don’t know the answer

The offensive coordinator is as predictable as always.

I frankly think our offense is better than our defense! We can stop the run but the pass is another story!
And our pressure and ability to sack the quarterback is almost non existent

Fourth quarter is always run, run, pass. Been this way forever. Only the last drive where we had to move the ball did this change.

And our pressure and ability to sack the quarterback is almost non existent We’re actually not much different than every other college these days. No one can stop anyone outside a few sec teams. The d line not getting a single bit of pressure is making it even harder on the D. Jordan Riley Scott is that dude

The best D I’ve ever seen from BSU was ‘08, which also happened to be the best O.

I never have agreed to the 3 down defensive lineman. I prefer 4. You have to have 3 dominating lineman on defense to go against 5-6 offensive lineman and get any pressure in the backfield or blitz linebackers consistently. Which we don't do.
