Eastern is just rolling Western on national television right now. Eastern’s offense is having their way with Western.

Eastern is either great or terrible. Hopefully we get them on an off day.

Toledo is by far the best team in MAC West. Buffalo looking good in the East.

Toledo is by far the best team in MAC West. Buffalo looking good in the East. Odd season.
Toledo is the only team in the West which has scored more points than the opponents for the season or in the conference.
The East has no team with an overall winning record.

I think it really speaks to one of my favorite aspects of the MAC...parody. I completely agree Toledo is the best team in the MAC right now. I also think Akron is the worst team. However, every team in between those two seems to be very similar right now.

Toledo plays at Buffalo and then at Eastern back to back. Then we play them. They will lose at least 1 of those! Hope it’s us!

There is parity, but MAC FB is also a comic parody of big time FB at times.

My MAC game for this past weekend was at NIU, where Toledo looked dominant. UT's cornerback Quinyon Mitchell had 4 interceptions (2 were pick 6's!), and he's just a sophomore. After his fourth, I cracked that he had more receptions than any of the NIU receivers, which wasn't quite true, but it sure got me death stares from the NIU fans...
UT's offense was unstoppable. At the end of 3 quarters, they were up 45-7, so the second string went in. NIU then scored, got a couple onside kicks, scored a couple more times, and finally went down 52-32. The stats for UT aren't really eye-popping (349 total yards), but they are incredibly efficient. Their QB Finn (another sophomore) is going to be a handful for any defense.
Our only hope on Nov. 8 is to have one of those odd games where we play out of our minds, like we do so often against Toledo.

just because we are talking about Toledo, I was curious.
We are 21-25-1 all-time.
As for Double-Digit underdog wins since 1997: We won in 2020 as a 10 point underdog in the Glass Bowl. We won in 2003 as a 12.5 point underdog at home. We won in 2001 as a 21.5 point underdog at home. We won in 1997 as a 12.0 point underdog at home.

I was thinking this morning that Toledo always seems like a powerhouse but also never seems to win it all. I went back and looked at they won the championship in 2017 and did not have quite as many second place finishes as I was thinking. But they also were the only team not to have finished last in the west for as far back as I looked (2008).

You also said you were at CMU-Bucknell, you visiting every stadium this year? No, I just happen to have a job that allows me to visit many venues every year. This football season, I've been to Michigan State, CMU, and NIU, and I'll be at WKU in a couple weeks. I tried to squeeze in Florida Atlantic this weekend, but couldn't make the schedule work. Looking back, I've been to a lot of schools, for football or basketball: IU Purdue Butler Valpo Indiana State Notre Dame Illinois Wisconsin Iowa Ohio State Michigan Michigan State Penn State Northwestern Minnesota Toledo Kent Akron Ohio Miami (OH) CMU BGSU NIU EMU WMU IPFW Dayton Detroit Mercy Chicago State WKU Memphis Wichita State Richmond Cincinnati Arkansas Xavier IUPUI Wright State Southern Illinois Kentucky Plus all but 3 Colts home games for the past 12 years, and road games at Dallas, Cincy, and Buffalo. The NFL Combine a few years, and the Super Bowl in Indy. NHL in Nashville and Columbus, MLS in Chicago and Columbus, MLB with the Cubs and Reds. 3 Final Fours, all of the B1G Football Championship Games, a few B1G Basketball Tournaments, and the CFB Championship Game last year. Oh, and 5 Monon Bell Games (Wabash and DePauw)! All in the last 25 years.
