We do lack depth behind Sparks but if he's health and free of foul trouble, he's going to play 35 minutes a game so not sure how much depth we'll need if all goes well. 35 minutes is too much. 25-30 will be a lot.
He wasn't foul prone, but then he was behind the play quite a bit on too many occasions, and I hope he plays better this year. As you say that will mean a few more fouls.
We're going to need minutes from Jihad at Center and not counting on Hendricks means we play small for 10-15 minutes a game at least, no way around it.

Yeah, 35 is a lot, but 25 players in the MAC averaged more than 30 minutes a game last year. Sparks averaged 28. He'll average more than that this year.

Muncie has changed. It's not like the glory days. I don't think the community any longer has the demographics to support a player playing more than 30 minutes a game.

Nah, it's the woke BSU administration insisting on more equal playing time.

Nah, it's the woke BSU administration insisting on more equal playing time. Hopefully Lewis has the backbone to stand up to them.

I think we are way too small to be without Sparks for 20 minutes. Jihad will give some minutes but there is rumors he will play the 4. This will need to be the year that Hendricks steps up. Sparks was the leagues #3 rebounder and the #11 scorer in the MAC. Not sure you want him on the bench for 15 minutes.

I don't care what we call him, 4 or 5 position, I'd classify him based on who he defends. We will count on him scoring inside and rebounding and we don't have anybody else as good at either. I'd be surprised to find him playing too much outside the high or low post on offense. While I don't consider him a really good defender, he does have ability to hold position in the post, and we don't have anybody else big enough to do that.

If you look at every promo every Interview etc... Sparks and Luke are the poster boys hard too see Luke not starting based on that

Sparks and Bumb will start. The other guys will have to earn it in practice, so we'll see a variety of lineups during the season based on performance. I think Jacobs will start. He seems to quietly be doing what it takes. Same with Windham, which after last year I'd have never expected. The rest, we'll see. Lewis isn't going to lock kids in to starting spots and leave them there no matter what, unlike Whit who let guys just suck with no accountability.

The story of windham will be one we likely never get unless he tells it at some point.

I am going to assume he has him doing a little FT practice as well.

Take away bumbalough's three point shooting and what do you have left? Rim protection?
Instead, I would (hopefully) maximize his good streakiness and minimize his bad streakiness by resting him quite a bit more.

Changing the offense and creating a role Bumb handles better could take advantage of things we didn't see. That could also mean better shots for him. Fewer shots maybe, less emphasis on the kind of shots he took. I agree he played too many minutes last year and always thought that being tired hurt his shooting late in games late in the season.

I agree Luke played too many minutes and I agree he may not be able to add anything else to the offense outside of 35% shooting. I was kind of giving Lewis the benefit of the doubt that he could sprinkle a little perfume on his skill set, since he is our 22-23 season poster boy.
I hesitate to agree that added rest would improve his FG%. I don't have any analysis to back this up, but I never saw his shooting % be super good at the beginning of a game and degrade during the subsequent quarters. He was either "on or off" when he hit the floor. He would also brick a FT or two at the beginning of a game, not due to tired legs.

I think Lewis just likes Bumbalough's bulldog-ness. Maybe sees a little of himself in Luke. We'll see how it plays out.
