Colorado hasn't even found the money to pay "Coach Prime" yet, but, I'm sure they'll come up with something.

It's one thing to win in the SWAC, selling himself as the savior of HBCUs, but jumping to a P5 that has been bad for a while... That's gonna take more than a flashy smile.

He's already attracting recruits (and brought along his QB son) but we'll see how they mesh and perform at the level they'll have to now.

It's one thing to win in the SWAC, selling himself as the savior of HBCUs, but jumping to a P5 that has been bad for a while... That's gonna take more than a flashy smile. He is coming in hard edged about chasing out players who aren't "dawgs" and he probably will recruit some talent at a school without previous natural foothold in the South. I share your skepticism that his trademark Neon Deon is not enough by itself to beat top coaches.
And how either that or his current Deep South hard scrabble junk yard dog thing plays in Colorado is a question mark. The campus life is a lot different than the underdog environment he comes from in HBCU. More academic emphasis. And players are after all students and influenced by their fellows and it's been a tough place to build a FB program. Alumni and donors want to win, but want to be part of the Program. Can he relate?
He has to build a FB enclave on a campus that is more a high tech, laid back one, in an affluent community, not exactly known for electric urban night life. Certainly some cowboy culture in Colorado, but this is mountain country and you have to worry he isn't going to recruit the plains and Texas as much as the deep South. Some culture clash for players and more of a job for him to connect to alumni and the community.
In any case, these choices for assistants will be important for moving up in class to a tougher schedule.

ONE winning season in last 17 years. Ball State's record over that period actually may be better (not interested enough to verify)
The bar is not set too high to be successful, but the PAC12 has some recently respectable programs to compete against.

Based upon some of the recruiting rankings, if Sanders is really liked by some of the JSU players, there might be a group of transfers to Colorado. He had some pretty quality recruits enrolled down there if I remember correctly.

There have already been grumblings about how he turned his back on the HBCUs to cash in. That may be an uphill battle in a state as white as Colorado.

Deion is going to have a tough time in Colorado. While he may initially bring in some recruits they won't stay long. He recruits the south those guys are not going to enjoy being in Boulder in the winter or even wearing coats frequently. CU will have a number of players in the transfer portal in a year. He should have taken a job in Florida. I have lived in Colorado for 35 yrs the teams that won in Boulder were stocked with either players from California or Texas. Deon doesn't recruit much in either one.

I gotta believe that Neon is in Boulder for three years tops then he is given a ticket out. He will not mesh well with the area, alums, or the kind of young men that want to attend Colorado. I wish him all the best but my head says no way.

How about Purdue coach to Louisville?
Lousy timing as it often is. Like Brady leaving a little.
