That play was from the head coach. Lembo is not smart enough to come up with a play that has any thought to it. I will never give that coward credit for ANYTHING.

I would give Lembo credit for anything and the coaches he has worked for since his departure do not either. Special team coaches are one step above Grad student helpers. He did a lousy job for us his last two years and left during Christmas leaving everyone high and dry. He is full of sh*t.

This is just a silly take. As a USC fan secondary to my BSU self-hate, I can tell you that the folks in Columbia wholeheartedly disagree with your take on Pete. They love him there. One step above grad student? He just got a $260k raise and contract extension with the sole intent to make him the highest-paid special teams coordinator in the SEC and is only behind Beamer, the DC, and the OC on the Cocks coaching pay scale. He currently makes $725k (which is almost double his BSU head coach salary). Beamer gives him all of the credit for the special teams (six blocked punts, 52% of punts downed inside the 20, 2nd best yds per punt average in the country, three passes (1 td) by the punter on fakes, 100% FG%, 14ypr avg on punt returns, etc.). Variants of shirts I saw at Gamecock games this year by end of season were "Lembo Ball" and "Beamer Lembo '24" presidential campaign shirts. Also, Pete was a semifinalist for the Broyles award for top assistant coach in the nation this year. I'm pretty sure they don't pick finalists for that from the grad students...
Side note: Nothing like attending a game at Williams-Brice. I highly recommend making a trip down there if you ever get the chance. It was pretty fun to see the Cards play there back in '98. Sandstorm, 2001, etc. Such a great atmosphere. One of the things I miss about living in Columbia. The atmosphere here at Vandy games is laughable in comparison. Vols games, on the other hand, are a great atmosphere, as some of you experienced this year...
USC salaries
Shane Beamer (HC) — $2.75 million Clayton White (DC) — $1.1 million Dowell Loggains (OC) — $1 million Pete Lembo (ST) — $725,000 Greg Adkins (OL) — $550,000 Torrian Gray (DBs) — $500,000 Justin Stepp (WRs) — $475,000 Jimmy Lindsey (DL) — $375,000 Montario Hardesty (RBs) — $350,000 Sterling Lucas (DEs/OLBs) — $350,000 Jody Wright (TEs) — $350,000

Pete also has the Associate Head Coach title...in the SEC no less. Beamer loves him, as did Ryan Silverfield (now head coach at Memphis) and Mike Norvell (now at FSU) at Memphis. You can easily search and find tons of positive quotes about him. He's had the associate or assistant head coach title at every place he's been since BSU. He's extremely well-respected in the coaching industry. Pete knows football and is a very good coach...and an even better man. He got caught with no assistant salary pool here. His biggest problem here became his defeatist attitude on recruiting, but man, at some point it gets hard to sell a grossly underfunded program to kids and their families. He was smart to bolt when he did, as there was no support here and he had lost his assistants due that lack of support. We all would have done the same. Think about it, he was willing to go to two dumpster fires (Maryland and then Rice) just to get out of here before Norvell hired him at Memphis and they built that program there (Norvell gave Pete a ton of credit for that). Norvell would have taken him to FSU, but Beamer offered Pete at SC.

"In a way, all of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo!"
