I have not yet got to meet him. In a weird twist my wife has met both he and his family. She introduced me to his wife daughter and father in law. Really really nice people I had a great talk with his father in law. I also met the MAC commish today that dude is a pompous Dick Interesting game for him to come to. Couldve gone to Notre Dame or Ann Arbor; Ohio was hosting a B12 school.... but he came to see us host ISU? I can see going to OU for Iowa State but why would he go to a MAC away game? Ball State comes fairly high in the MAC alphabet. Just doing the rounds I'm sure.

There was a kickoff party for the high rollers Friday night at Mearns house. He attended that went to part of the game then headed to Toledo to catch the night cap

My bank has the auto change counter where you chunk in the change and they give you a deposit slip to take to the teller. No % charge. Right nice living here in Mayberry.

Wait a minute, my buddy says I live in Mayberry. I'm gonna have to check my bank to see if they have one of those. WalMart does, but they take 12%.

It makes no sense whatsoever for the schools and the students, but football games provide great opportunities for commissioners and presidents and such to play the role of the big shot. The $10 million per year loss is not coming out of THEIR pockets, so why would they upset the apple cart?

I'm starting to sense that you are not a fan of Ball State fielding a division I football team? You would rather see BSU dump all their resources into D-I basketball? Hmmmm... I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just not all in on that direction yet. I have many questions. One not so obvious question would be... if we drop down, could we somehow improve our perceived "quality ranking?" I'm not opposed to getting out of this insane arms race that is D-I football, where we are not competitive (but neither are IU or Purdue despite being funded at that level). I wouldn't mind being a Gonzaga... but I don't see that happening either.

I'm not opposed to getting out of this insane arms race that is D-I football, where we are not competitive (but neither are IU or Purdue despite being funded at that level). I wouldn't mind being a Gonzaga... but I don't see that happening either. At one time, I did have something like the Gonzaga model in mind. But that would require a certain amount of competence from the BSU administration that it has pretty conclusively demonstrated it does not have. If it can't find and employ a coach who can even CONTEND for a MAC title one time in 23 years, how is it suddenly going to come up with a Mark Few? So, through the sad experience of recent years (decades actually), I've come around to the conclusion that basketball is also not worth the money spent. It's also a waste, just a much smaller waste. And I wouldn't see dropping football as a way to somehow improve our perceived quality ranking. Rather just an end to an idiotic waste of a ton of student money. MAC football programs lose approx. $10 million each every year. MAC students have better uses for their $120 million dollars than farcical football programs that they don't give a rat's ass about.
