Guarantee they are bigger and more physical than we are. I think we'll be more dialed in and ready to play, but the offense is going to be the offense and it's still not going to be able to do much. Our defense is solid and will put up a fight but I can't see our offense being able to keep the ball long enough or put up enough points to keep us in the game. I don't think major changes, if they were going to be made, would happen in a week. WMU 34 BSU 17 Until proven otherwise, have to agree with cardfan! Nonsense. He's always pessimistic, with justification, but the point spread we could disagree about. And, even without major changes we have some chance to even win.

Yup... it's a business, and Mike mixed business with family / friends with Lynch. We'll see what, if anything he does to correct course this week. It's already taken way too long. And "no", Lynch isn't all that is wrong. He's just the most obvious at this point.

Big game tomorrow and absolutely no activity here....sad. A direct example of the state of the program now. if Neu, with an offense background, has not pulled play calling from Lynch tomorrow and going forward to call the game himself he's a fool that deserves what he gets.

Fans like me are tired of watching this train wreck! Seven years of losing is enough! Pulled my Cardinal flag from the yard. Threw the Cardinal in the trunk. No desire to go see a game this weekend that’s only an hour away. Haven’t worn Cardinal gear all week - may only put in on tomorrow during the game on ESPN+ and I am ready to take it off at half if we are losing. I am just about done with it for the year or until BallU decides they are serious about have a winning season more than once every decade.

Hang in there man,,,we have, what, 8 games left? Let's see what happens. Remember, he's one of our own.
He cares, and we're not just a stepping stone for him.
Ya I'm trying to look at the glass as half full....today.

I was busy last week during the game and very luckily had it “spoiled” for me, which saved me from watching it. I am going to be busy tomorrow during gametime and I’m tempted to spoil it for myself on purpose this time to save me some time in the evening if it’s not worth rewatching.

Ya I'm trying to look at the glass as half full....today. I am trying to hang in, but the rope is getting really worn thin. The glass, well it’s 1/7 full. The stuff you’ve said about Neu is true, I doubt any of us question his love for Ball State, but his record as head coach is terrible.

Mike does care and we’ve all wanted him to be successful. He’s a true Cardinal but he just doesn’t have whatever “it” is as a head coach. Good enough to get us close, but not over the top save the strange 2020 season. Overall his ceiling seems to be 5 win seasons with 3-4 games a year we blow in the 4th quarter. He’s had 8 years to build something and that’s plenty of time in football to create a winning program. I have no delusions of Toledo/OU type annual success but it’d sure be nice if we could at least finish some seasons above water. 5-7 almost every year just isn’t good enough and is not worth the financial investment in football. I think Jeff Mitchell is going to look at the plans he has to elevate football and see Mike just isn’t bringing ROI there and needs to make a change.
The offense lacks punch, just as it did last year, and as it too often has in the era of Mike picking bad OC’s. The bad offense is tied to poor recruiting of quarterbacks, which has lead to the inability to get impact wr and playmakers. We are not and have not been dynamic. We’re a run based offense in an era of pinball machine, fast paced, high powered offenses. We’re stuck in 1990’s gear. It absolutely wears our d out and exposes them to too many short fields and quick returns to the field after getting a stop. Pretty obvious we need a more creative mind running the offense. That’s pretty disappointing considering Neu’s background. Boring, plodding and low scoring doesn’t sell tickets and it doesn’t win enough games. Not with how games are played today. We’re still trying to play Schudel style ball control, methodical offense that worked 30 years ago. Mike has never had a dominant oline to accomplish that and for the most part hasn’t had a Qb who could make winning plays in the 4th quarter. We’ve generally been sloppy in terms of fundamentals and execution.
Will that suddenly change? Will we see a better attitude, effort and execution today? I hope so. I want to be excited about football again, but it’s hard to project that. I think Mike’s limitations as a HC are on display and that includes his poor selection of OC. Combine that with really poor recruiting of skill positions, especially the lack of dynamic wr and oline that just can’t quite get push in 4th quarters and we have what we have. Cooper must be kicking himself for picking us when he left Kent.
Wmu is going through new coaching staff pains but the amount of points they put on Toledo is concerning for us because we just cannot score like that. Still, I hold out hope our d can keep us in the game and the offense makes enough plays to pull this one out. I feel like we can win if we don’t give up the big play and Semonza can be efficient and accurate. All comes down to the oline again. If we can’t run the ball we are dead in the water as we have no other plan.

Last week was so bad it is impossible for me to be exited for this game or the season in whole. Western Michigan is such a bad team, maybe the worst they’ve been in decades. and we are underdogs. Expect a loss. It is easier on my mental state to accept the failure than to hang on to unfounded hope. Rooting for Ball State is almost as painful as rooting for the Cubs.

Yes nothing more to be said. We have just worn out the talking points. I will say that Western is not that bad. They played Syracuse even until they didn't and really hurt Toledo who finally got untracked. I don't think Hunt's return will make that much difference. If we fall flat and screw up everything because of a lack of dedication and pride then I consider that as proof that Neu has lost the team. When a team only meeting is called there is some really serious shit going on.

Mike had the IT factor as a player, and with the right cast around him, maybe also as head coach. As we get ready to face WMU, I thought how cool would it be if MIke had actor Morgan Freeman address the team before the game. Here’s what ChatGPT threw back:
"Team, today we stand on the precipice of greatness, ready to face Western Michigan. Remember, this is not just a game; it's a test of your character, your determination, and your unity as a team.
Western Michigan may be formidable, but so are we. We've trained for this moment, endured the heat, and pushed through adversity. Each one of you is here for a reason, and I believe in your abilities.
“In life, as in football, we encounter obstacles, and it's how we respond that defines us. Today, let us respond with courage and resilience. Let us play with the heart of a lion, the focus of a champion, and the unity of a brotherhood.
I want you to step onto that field with unwavering confidence, knowing that you have the skills, the spirit, and the determination to conquer any challenge. When the final whistle blows, I want you to leave it all out there, knowing that you've given everything for your teammates, your university, and yourselves.
Now, let's go out there, play our hearts out, and show Western Michigan what Ball State is made of. Together, we can achieve greatness!"
Chirp, Chirp!

In contrast, here’s Mike inviting Bozo the Clown address the team before the game:
"Hey there, Ball State team! It's your favorite clown, Bozo, here to pump you up for the showdown against Western Michigan! Now, I might not know much about football, but I do know about the power of a big, bright smile!
Listen up, you're not just playing for a win; you're playing for all those kids in the stands who look up to you, who dream of being right where you are. You're their heroes today!
So, put on those helmets, lace up those cleats, and remember, it's not about the size of the shoes; it's about the size of your hearts! When you hit that field, give it your all, and have a blast out there.
And if things get tough, just think, 'What would Bozo do?' He'd laugh it off and keep going! So, let's go out there, have fun, and show Western Michigan what it means to be part of the Ball State circus! Go team!"
