Because October is a long way from last March and a long way until next March. In October the old disappointments are a long way back and the new disappointments haven't started yet. |

I have absolutely no idea what to expect. The recruiting doesn't seem very strong, but who knows really. It will be kind of intriguing to follow the team just because there are so many unknowns.

Certainly agree about the unknowns. And, I suppose we can't point to a recruit who we expect to be a star right away. I'm worried about so many players with no college experience.
OTOH the freshman HS and prep school recruiting looks pretty good to me. Jalin Anderson maybe not an instant star, but is a very good transfer. The JUCO again not that stand out get, but better than recent JUCO targets.
Adding to all that unpredictability those R/S players after a year of practice remain unknown, the Euro recruit hard to evaluate, but still MAC level recruits. It just adds up to so many new players and so much unknown.

I don’t think a top 4 seed is outrageous; I believe we will be very competitive. Good coaching gets that out of players

That would give numbers, providing bench, and provide better defense without fouling. We lost a lot, but more on offense than defense, so we have a chance to improve there. But not out of the box...

That's a very Kid thing to say but it would be easier to believe in if the results last year had been maximized relative to the talent level. I don't see that that was true. If anything, I think the team may have underachieved a bit. That could be debated but by no means did Lewis coach the team into more than the sum of its parts. The quality of the recruiting and transfer class is difficult to read at this point, but my fear that the 2022-23 team may represent the most talent Lewis ever has here is still very much in play.
Of course, we have been assured by some here that the results will get better once Lewis brings in "his type of players", who are "tough".
We will see.

Results last year had something to do with lack of depth down the stretch.
We have less top talent, but potentially at least more depth.
I don't think top seed, but if somebody on this team can break out, and freshmen become productive we could be dangerous foe in tournament.
We don't seem to have a deadeye shooter, and are painfully short of experience.
I think Lewis did well with our limitations last year. His test is developing young players this year not just getting good effort.
