Or they'll bring in a new set of NBA level guys to play in front of him. Totally agree UJ. They recruited over him and will do it again when the current frontline moves on. And they should, unless their goal is to sink to the bottom of the Big 10. Sparks is out of his depth. He's living his dream, I guess. But if he decides that dream isn't all he thought it might be, there's probably a school that would take him back ... unless he wants money ... in which case he'll have to go to Eastern or Toledo or some place like that.

We'd take him in New York minute.

Not far from where the Cards are playing tonight, Luke Bumbalough is putting together a nice season for the Niagara Purple Eagles. After a 1-6 start, the team is now 9-9, 5-3 in conference play.
Bum is playing 30+ minutes a game, averaging double digits in points, shooting about 40% from 3 for the year, 43% in MAAC play. Think he's also chipping in about 5 assists a game in conference.
Niagara is also ranked about 10 spots better than BSU in the latest KenPom.
Looks like his decision to transfer was a pretty good one, or if it was a Lewis decision to push him out, maybe a pretty bad one.
Those figures wouldn't look too bad on a BSU stat sheet this year.

He showed very little of being able to help us last year. Happy for him he is enjoying some success this year.

Bum always took pretty good care of the ball. He certainly has his liabilities, but he would find much more playing time on this year's team than he did last year.

Our guards this year also suck defensively. Bumb did too. Bumb was pretty awful last year. I agree with Zonebuster.

Bum could have maybe made the difference between us being #255, which we are now, and maybe, say, #240. Maybe? And Bum is never going to make much, if any, money playing basketball.
So the most important thing here is that the kid is out further from home at a different kind of school (smaller. private, Catholic) in a different environment (within walking distance of the falls). Hopefully it all works out for him and he enjoys his senior year of playing.

Sometimes you just need a change of scenery especially when you feel more pressure playing in your backyard. He was a mental mess every time he came in. Lewis gave him every opportunity in the first dozen games, started and played him a lot and he was a defensive liability and whenever he missed his first three he was toast. Had a few good games usually on the road. I'm happy for him but BSU was not where he needed to finish.

A couple transfer suggestions for Coach I have it on good authority that this effective scorer is not on good terms with his coach: This guy is flat out unguardable when he is on:

Obviously his teammate Jimmy Chitwood is headed for a huge, big school NIL payday, but Rade Butcher is and effective and likely affordable player who is not entirely on board with his current coach

Is Jerron Coleman still on the Nebraska roster?

Is Jerron Coleman still on the Nebraska roster? Yes. During their games you see him near the end of the bench with a towel draped over his lap or on the outside of the huddle during timeouts. His last appearance in a game might have been the Minnesota game back on December 6th.

Ware has been injured the past 2 games for IU and hasn't played. In the first game against Wisconsin (IU 79, WU 91), Sparks started, played 29 minutes, scored 7 points 2 rebounds, and fouled out.
In today's game, a 62-70 loss to Illinois, Sparks only played 2 minutes (didn't start like against Wisconsin) with no stats. That's right, Ware didn't play at all, but Sparks only got 2 minutes. I didn't watch the game, so maybe he got hurt after 2 minutes, otherwise really bad news for Sparks after encouraging usage against Wisconsin.
Coleman also made a 2 minute appearance in today's Nebraska loss to Maryland (Maryland 73, Nebraska 51). Assuming it was garbage time. Coleman had zero stats in those 2 minutes.

Illinois doesn’t play a true center. They look to push at every opportunity. They switch on almost every pick. It appeared Woodson tried to mirror them and went with Walker. Starters all played 30+ minutes. Was surprised Sparks didn’t play in 2nd half. Watching cannot be fun for somebody who has always played major minutes, regardless of the money.
