he doesn't put up with lack of effort. The start of the second half against ? Our team defense was a little soft (not a lot) he called time out and made his point. The team went on to smother the other team on defense. Early on he stated and players backed him up that if you didn't have floor burns going after loose balls you would not get much playing time. In recruiting he recruited a two headed monster in the Smith twins. They are all business. Alex Richards? my first choice in an ally fight. In fact there are no shrinking violets on the team. Again listen to the pressers and you really get what he and this team is all about.

12 players named with 4 honorable mention .
Butler arguably did the best in the portal, and ISU did well with 5 and 2 from the 16 mentioned as impact players.
BSU has Jalin Anderson. with Bailey as honorable mention.
Several real surprises who you would not have predicted to have as much bang for the buck.
The top transfers with exception of IU's big man seem to be players making more or less lateral moves that fit needs of their team. Not really many big school players moving down. Coaches finding fitting players more important than just snagging raw talent. Players who returned "home" to Indiana a factor in a few cases.

Good news for Sparks last night. His team, IU won, over Ohio State 76-73 and he saw 1 minute of action and made 1 of his 2 free throw attempts. Outstanding!

Good news for Sparks last night. His team, IU won, over Ohio State 76-73 and he saw 1 minute of action and made 1 of his 2 free throw attempts. Outstanding! He's on a team playing at the highest level of college basketball, getting a good degree, making some nice $$ and occasionally playing when Ware is hurt. There are worse gigs.

Taking the money now isn't a horrible idea when his pro prospects were not great. Probably has as good a chance to play pro as he would have being All MAC player here.

Sellers would have had a similar role with us, but for less pay. Sparks & Boogie......not so much. But, I'm sure they like looking at their bank account balance on-line.

The player I've kept an eye on all season is Kentucky's Joey Hart. We were apparently in the running for him before the Wildcats swooped in and got him with their last scholarship. Through 21 games Hart has played in just 7 games for a total of 9 minutes. Last night in their 32 point win over Vandy, Hart got to mop the floor for the final 2 minutes.
It was very predictable as they already had signed four other frosh guards that were clearly in front of him with D.J. Wagner, Edwards, Shepherd & Dillingham. I would expect Dillingham & Wagner to go pro with the other two returning. Hart will get recruited over with next year's class. Hoping Hart looks to come back closer to home after this year. But, he'll have to take a pay cut!!

Now that I'm 40 years removed from my college experience, i remember the track and cross country meets I got to participate in while at BSU with fond memories. Would I cherish them as much if I had just been watching them from the sidelines; watching someone else run instead of me? I can't imagine I would. That's exactly what Sparks is doing now. He's got a courtside seat like a high paying alum or IU cheerleader. In 40 years, the few dollars in his bank account now might not be worth the memories that could have been.

He's also sacrificing future dollars as an international player. Nobody is gonna sign a guy sitting on the end of the bench with no stats.

But, he'll have to take a pay cut!! If he decides to transfer, I guess he might consider BSU. If I were him though, I'd also consider Indiana State if they wanted me. Closer to home and a program clearly on the rise. IU would be closer, too, and you might think would be interested.

I also can’t believe he doesnt have the same sensibilities as a 60 year old. Perhaps he’s comfortable with it not being about him? Maybe he finds satisfaction with his role on the team? It may just be that he’d rather help a power conference team compete at the highest level than flounder with us at the bottom of the MAC. He might also be in a better position to weigh his preferences than we are.
