The court awareness and passing the ball by Ashlynn Brooke caught my eye. The twins are 5-10 and not timid. When they were recruited Brady mentioned how hard nosed they were. Bolton has untapped talent. Sydney Shafer somewhat forgotten but put talent on display again. Would not be hesitant to play any of our deep bench if needed. No other team so far has demonstrated the ability to sustain such an intensive defense both full court and half. Noticed the brooke girl as well. She made some great passes |

Eastern Michigan has some players as do everyone else in the MAC. This was a hard fought game for about a half until Becki put in 6 3 pointers. BSU 75 Eastern 50.
Next game is Kent that had tough time at BG but finally won. We will have to really rebound against them as they have some big post players. I thought our rebounding in the first half was poor as we could not get 2nd chance shots WE have played 3 games in 6 days but because of our bench was able to sustain the effort on defense. Coach finally took Becki out with about 2 minutes to go.

Huge game against Kent State tonight. Kent is 7-1 in the conference with their only conference loss against Toledo. On paper, this matchup is pretty even. However, Kent rebounds well, which has been an area of weakness for us. I'm expecting a tough battle. I think we win, but would not be surprised if Kent ends our winning streak.

Agree that Kent is a hand full. They have two really good players. Rebounding and defense will win it for us. Hopefully Kent will have a bad shooting night.

Huge game against Kent State tonight. Kent is 7-1 in the conference with their only conference loss against Toledo. On paper, this matchup is pretty even. However, Kent rebounds well, which has been an area of weakness for us. I'm expecting a tough battle. I think we win, but would not be surprised if Kent ends our winning streak. Im predicting a win against Kent. I'm thinking we lose to some rather bad / weak team. Not a game we should be up for. But a game we overlook, and can't get up for, as the season drags on. |

Normally the way of human nature would predict such a let down. I felt that Eastern Michigan was a trap game. Akron taught us a lesson. Consistent play and focus has carried this team thus far. However I don't see how we not lose a game or two with the road games ahead.

Cards win a defensive battle against a solid Kent State team.
I'm not one to nit-pick but the last 4 minutes of play was some of the worst play I've seen all season. You have a 19 point lead and give up 10 points in in about 2 1/2 minutes with starters in.
If Kent had hit any of their 5 free throws in the last 4 minutes, they might have won the game

Kent had a few scrappy players, but they are not a good team. They have very low offensive skill.

Bad for depth perception We need Toledo to drop one before we get there. That will be difficult as they are mopping up everyone (except BSU). Can't stumble if we want #1 seed. |

Kent plays rough, they only had 2 players & they were horrible at the foul line. They were horrible shooting threes & I don't see them being a threat to beat us when we play them.

Listen to the press conference for good insight about the game. Brady called it a rock fight against one of the top two or three defenses. We wern't hitting threes but still found a way to get a 20pt. lead on them and win by 11. Schumate their best player was defensed well but showed her talent with two open threes with about 3 minutes to go. Bottom line is we have a really good team that knows how to win in a variety of ways. We have been able to handle the best players in the MAC except for Watson of Buffalo. we will be challenged playing them in Buffalo Then there is Kent and Toledo on the road. Thank God Northern has a new basketball floor. I think we will win there Northern does not have the depth or talent to overcome our defense.
