My annual rant on 11 seeds having to play an extra game to get into the regular NCAA tournament. Puts them at a distinct disadvantage vs. the field. I understand the back markers (16 seeds) but can't grasp this thinking.
No explanations necessary. I'm sure this can be explained away rationally. I won't embrace any potential logic around this. Sorry.

It looks pretty stupid. Must be some reason we don't see.

Vanderbilt was a "no show" last night (laid a huge egg), so we'll see during the Michigan game tonight whether 11th-seed play-ins are interesting.

Tonight's games were craptastic. How did the Big 10 deserve 7 teams this year?

Sorry to see Southern Cal get dumped. I was hoping to see Enfield's wife (former FGCU coach) get some TV exposure.

Suck it, IU fans.
Also, the Greg Doyle column about how the selection committee disrespected the Big 10 now makes for some amusing reading. link

Turns out the Big 10 wasn't all that.

Turns out the Big 10 wasn't all that. Coulda. Woulda. Shoulda. Each team in the top half was strong but flawed, so it's not a big surprise. I thought any hype for IU was especially overblown. The guy has not won big games. Purdue did not have guard play which is critical in tournament games. MSU I liked. Michigan is usually dangerous and can get hot but not as strong this year.
