Purdue comes in at 4-12, 2-9 on the road. The dropped 2 of 3 to Ohio this past weekend at Kokomo Municipal Stadium (Purdue has prescription turf, and it's early to play on it. Kokomo has Field Turf). Game will start at 3:00 pm at Ball Diamond. It will be 64 degrees, cloudy, windy with 0% chance of rain. a good day to take in a game! For those that haven't seen Kokomo Municipal Stadium, here is a rendering:

That is a nice stadium. Home of the prospect league team in Kokomo. An amateur league for collegians. Wikipedia descriptionleague home page hereNot sure if our facility and market would support that or not. Probably have to sell beer. Teams draw about a 1000 fans a game. No idea about the economics or if that "breaks even" or it has to be subsidized. I know Lafayette was considering renovation of stadium there, but may not have gotten the deal done yet.

We could support one. There was a team in Anderson for quite a few years, and there currently are teams in Lafayette and Terre Haute. Richmond just closed, so we could pick up some of those fans (Anderson and Richmond have always been mis-managed and had an insufficient facilities). We decided not to add lights to the new renovation, and that limits timing of night games. In Muncie, I think you would want to have 7:00 pm starts to allow folks to get there after work. Without lights most of your nights starts will have to be at 6:00 pm. Lights are necessary for play in this league. It is a short league, so only around 50 games per summer. Richmond, Lafayette and Chillicothe used to be Independent Frontier League (low Single-A minors) franchises that stepped down to collegiate summer league. Lafayette has been talking about renovating Loeb for almost 15 years. They can't seem to pull the trigger.

We have a collegiate summer league team in Wilmington. My wife and I go to quite a few games. Decent crowds and very entertaining baseball for $6.

That's a fact.
Minor league baseball has become one of the success stories in sports business. This amateur league is sort of sub minor league, but extremely similar and suitable for even smaller markets maybe.
The only drawback is usually the stadium which usually requires some kind of public investment.

Strong winds (up to 30 mph ou of the SSW) today will make the Ball Diamond a launching pad today. We'll see how many taters go out.
