7 players, one fouls out, 38+ minutes of playing time are tough to overcome

We gotta add one more player into the mix somehow. Maybe just a couples of minutes throughout the game before media timeouts.

Impressive 2nd half only to choke from the FT line in OT! This despite getting nothing from Jihad who forced bad shots all night. Just hate how we finished. Bummed out tonight!!

Not that it really matters but the record book has us winning 2 of the last 10 games which would make losing 15 of the last 16 impossible.
2017-18 1/9/18 A BS 75-68 2018-19 1/12/19 H OU 70-52 2018-19 1/26/19 A OU 78-74 2019-20 2/1/20 H BS 65-54 2020-21 1/2/21 H OU 78-68 2020-21 1/23/21 A OU 85-77 2021-22 2/1/22 A OU 87-63 2021-22 3/10/22 N OU 77-67 2022-23 2/1/23 A OU 76-71 2022-23 3/10/23 N OU 90-70
It's still horrible.

What a lousy way to end the game.

Just when I thought Anderson had cured himself with good play he bricks 3 straight free throws. Just a pathetic way to lose a game. And Mickey having two open threes to only have them blocked? We most definitely need another player to help break up the minutes-----we were all gassed at the end. The refs sucked bad for both teams.

I cannot overstate how much hatred I have for OU.
As for this team, they battled in the second half, but three things continue to plague us: 1) Terrible shot selection and decision-making (lots of dumb passes and plays) 2) Can't get stops late in games 3) These kids just aren't winners
To me, the player of the game was easily Middleton. He makes all the hustle plays and keeps us in games.
Jones has splatted against the freshman wall.
Hunter is by far the best player I've seen in Worthen this year.
MAC refs are atrocious.

These games just seem to follow a common theme that are mostly winnable but we simply don’t execute and aren’t solid with the ball.
This team is BAD from a talent standpoint, but they seem to have good attitudes. Maybe Lewis is doing a good job coaching a really really bad team. If he’s only playing 7 and the team is struggling this bad, who is on that bench behind them.
I also have to give Lewis credit. I’ve watched a few press conferences and there are young “reporters” asking the questions. I think he gets it that the Ball State press isn’t exactly seasoned reporters and he doesn’t just chew them out when they ask a question he doesn’t like. Last night a kid asked “did free throws lose this game” with Anderson sitting right there. Lewis didn’t like it and stuck up for him. He also didn’t go into a rage and bite the kids head off, but said “you are better than that.”
Lewis “gets it” in so many ways but I’m worried about him stroking out he gets so visibly upset on the sidelines. I feel like he’s gonna stroke out.

Its fairly obvious tgat free throws did play a major part in the outcome of the game but there is nothing wrong with that question. you gotta expect its coming

We're a good team in terms of FTs. I liked Lewis's answer. Made that pount. Positive about the player. Got a subtle comment in about how so few fouls were committed by a foul prone opponent.

Our bench
Brittain-Watts, never seen the floor injured all year Doughty, injured and out the rest of the year. Wasn't getting a lot of PT before that. Adams, a non-factor for 2 years now Bell, the groundhog of the team. Stepped out of his burrow and onto the court earlier this season, saw his shadow, and returned underground to sit out the rest of the winter. Brown, had some moments earlier this season but inconsistent. Had an "issue" of some sort and now could now be stuck in doghouse for rest of year. Zagorsak, had some PT rather recently but apparently not trusted enough to play against OU.
2 injured, 2 apparently not worthy of playing, and 2 more not playing now for who knows what reasons.

If you're going to ask one relative then ask if fatigue was a factor in the missed FTs and how can you keep your team fresh in these final 8 games.

Even though we were down 13-0, we could have given up, but didn't. We fought back and were in position to win. Was fatigue a factor? Was lack of compusure at the end a factor? Definitely. Anderson cannot play 44 minutes. We have to learn how to finish games.

When fatigue sets in composer begins to fade. Anderson 44 minutes? It is a wonder he was even able to get the ball to the rim on those free throws. Thought he played a great game and our good effort and fight that we have is going to catch some of these upcoming teams who will have a bad night Thinking of Kent who seems gassed. There starting guard left the game the other night with what looked like back spasm.
