Ha this guy. He sent a tweet out after the season supporting Neu, now he pulls this. Whatever
The program is in shambles. Has been for awhile. Think I will check out this season and come back in Jan when we hire a new regime.

It’s not the biggest deal. We’ve had all-conference level running backs nearly every year for the last decade plus. We’ll find someone who can tote the rock!

While not ideal probably not a season killer we have some good looking younger kids and can grab a portal back.

Better NIL likely has to be a factor.

to jump in the portal at this time, some type of blow-up took place. Some of these kids are making emotional decisions without thinking this move to the portal. Too many kids are chasing NIL and P5 glory!

If you have market it's pretty rational. A RB has a short future to make money in the best case. Money now and an equal chance (or likely better) for exposure is hard to argue is a bad move.

Cooper is about Cooper. That's fine. He wanted every carry. He wanted Kelly to be the QB going forward (not happening) He probably wanted more NIL. We can't get into bidding wars. If he can find something better elsewhere, fine. (I do think there ought to be some sort of financial penalty for players who bail on a program right after getting NIL to play in that program) Coaches contracts often have financial penalties/obligations f they change jobs or get fired, so why not make players have contracts with certain language in it too? If they want the ability to be free agents and find better deals they should have to have contracts to go with that. If they unionize, be careful what they wish for. Dues? Taxes? That's all true in term so of the impacts of the NCAA and NIL. But it shouldn't distract from the fact that it's still on Neu though. He gave Cooper everything he wanted but in the end cast his lot with a player who was as about as me-only as they come, gave half effort in practice and was never penalized for his behavior. Kid thought he was damn near running the program. As the saying goes, when people show who you are believe them. They put out feelers to see if one of the transferring RB's would return but he told them he would rather drop down a level than return to play where they continually rewarded Cooper. Like QB mismanagement and the endless Lynch regurgitation, this is just another example why this guy needs to go. But as I've said on this board before, he's a helluva politician and he uses those skills to keep his job and seems not to be bothered by the 39% career winning percentage staring back at him from the mirror. ^ THIS

Should it have been fixed earlier maybe who knows. As it all unfolded it became pretty much common knowledge he was dismissed from the team. As with most things we will never hear an official why or get an official statement unless a credentialed media source pushes. So its basically over

Put it this way—Cooper ran himself out of the program. Shouldn’t have reached the point it did but Neu gives guys chances.

Just listened to a UMass report comparing athletic budgets. UMass spends more than any other MAC school. Ball U is in the bottom three or four in almost all categories. He also talked about ideas for a “14” School and one suggestion he listed was University of Delaware. Went to the athletic department site and it looks like a very good idea. They have a nice foootball stadium, seating 22,000. Their football program has a very good history. They also have a nice basketball arena, better than most MAC schools. Maybe we should pursue them.
