You missed the 70-71 team much worse than this team. I will say Jihad cost us as many points as he scored. They looked bad & did get the ball to Pearson pretty much the entire game. It's over wait until next year. And Ronnie Snake Thompson was his own bottom of the bottom. |

This wasn't a good season by any measure but I still wish the season wasn't over and we had a game at Worthen next week. There have been years when I was glad it was over. So as frustrating and disappointing as it was it wasn't anywhere close to the worst.
I'm anxious to see what happens with this roster and I'll be excited for next season no matter what happens.
Bring on football.

In the weakest year possibly ever in the history of MAC basketball, Ball U can’t even make the MAC tournament. As far as I’m concerned, this is the bottom of Ball State’s basketball program in its history. Pathetic Really ridiculous hyperbole. Unfortunately, Herman, not that hyperbolic at all. We are at #266 at the moment. This is worse than any Buckley, Thompson, or Billy Taylor team. Let that sink in for a moment. I would have to say the 2014, 5-win Whitford team WAS worse, but not by a whole lot. That team played the 112th toughest schedule in the country. If this year's team had played the 112th toughest schedule, instead of the 329th toughest schedule, it would also be a single digit win team. And failing to make the MAC tourney in this MAC environment is, in fact, pathetic. The pre-conf schedule and the state of the MAC this year has served to somewhat mask just how bad this team really is. |

No argument on pathetic but have to take seasons in their big picture and the Thompson year was the bottom of the program. I saw some pretty bad years as a kid in the 70’s too. And I’ve seen a lot of seasons where the teams had better talent but didn’t have half the fight this years team had. We weren’t good, no, but there have been been several bottomers that were more bottom than this season. |

I also regard the Thompson year as the bottom, due to him being a racist, prima donna jackass, but that team was a better basketball team than this year by a safe margin.

Am I correct in the understanding that players have to enter the portal this year by May 1?
That should at least prevent any repeats of the Coleman situation from last year.
If we get some decent news early on signings out of the portal I'd say Lewis and staff are getting it done.
If we have to wait for a while, which I assume we will, I'd say either our lack of staff charisma or cash are not going to cut it in the land of 2024 college basketball recruiting. Then we're just trying to piece together a roster from the dregs of the portal.
Possibly, that still might be enough to win in the MAC.
