I don't think it's correct to say Jihad was better statistically. Jihad last year was 18.6 ppg 8.0 rpg, Sparks as a soph 13.3 ppg 8.7 rpg BUT Sparks was much more efficient in getting his points as best demonstrated by his .588 fg% compared to .451 for Jihad. Jihad needed 140 additional shot attempts and 60 additional turnovers to get those 5 extra ppg. And Jihad racked up those points in the context of a shitty team that failed to make the mac tourney, whereas we were at least mediocre the prior year. If Jihad does "add more" it's not readily visible in the stats. I would marginally prefer a soph version of Sparks to Jihad, but it's a fairly close call for me. I agree with you on the preference. Sparks is pretty decent on passing back out to the perimeter when he gets doubled. Basheer would turn it over in all kinds of ways, passing and dribbling.

Couldn’t we just have em both…. That was Whit's plan... Speaking of ol' JW, I see he's back in the coaching world now that BSU's no longer paying him. Seems Archie Miller needs his help turning around those Rhode Island Rams.
