Hot off the press:
As part of Ball State University Foundation's ongoing unification, commitment to continual improvement, and staffing changes, the strategic decision has been made to relocate Athletics Development from Strategic Engagement and Communications to Development.
Effective April 1, 2016, Brad Edmondson will become executive director of Athletics Development, reporting to Mark Helmus, senior vice president for Development. Edmondson's focus will be on major gift fundraising for defined athletics priorities while providing broad leadership to Athletics Development. Beth Davis will continue in her role as coordinator of Athletics Development. A third staff position, assistant director of Athletics Development and director of the Cardinal Varsity Club (CVC), will complete the team by focusing on CVC (annual athletics fundraising) and related fundraising activities.
"We're very fortunate to have seasoned leadership and experience with Brad and Beth, and I look forward to working with them as a part of the larger Development team," Helmus said. "With great partners like Intercollegiate Athletics Director Mark Sandy and his dedicated coaches and athletics staff, combined with a highly motivated CVC board leadership, we are well-positioned to grow the support of our student-athletes and their Cardinal teams."
Edmondson said the unification under the foundation provided a great opportunity to assess the structure of Athletics Development and study the best practices of this in the athletics industry.
The unification of athletics major giving, annual fund (Cardinal Varsity Club), and special events into one Athletics Development unit provides us the best opportunity to serve our student-athletes, coaches, and donors," Edmondson said. "With the foundation's union of Strategic Engagement and Communications, Development, Alumni Programs, and Finance and Operations in place, we now have the appropriate Athletics Development structure to achieve the future goals of the Ball State athletics program."
